Need help in attaining Herpes Western Blot in Canada Terri Warren

I have attempted to contact Terri Warren thru multiple means to acquire a Western Blot herpes test. Her clinic is closed but all pertinent info such as ph.# is still present on website. She also states to find her at Evisit. I registered there but on last page before i hit schedule meeting it stated she does not send out the test kit any longer and patient must do this. My problem with this is that i have no one to contact to facilitate having WB test kit sent to Canada. Univ.of Wash will not send out of USA. I contacted EVisit also because i put 99999 as my zip code because Evisit program will not accept aplha letters for postal code in Canada. Evisit said they are not licensced to serve Canada and dont know how i got that far into program. My real question is can Terri Warren help get a WB test kit out of USA? If not can she put a note on her website For USA customers only!  Ive spent a fair amount of time getting to almost sched an appointment with her including giving my credit card info to a company that in the end may be able to sched the appointment but Terri will not be able to help get a test kit sent to Canada..this information would have been useful.  I have called the phone numbers listed on the website but assume they are extinct. Can anyone suggest a way to get a WB herpes test in Ontario Canada..The labs will draw blood. I need a reqisition for the UNiV of Wash to do test as well as test procedure to follow for the lab.  Is it really this hard ? I guess .  any help is.  Well useful thanks

I also live in Toronto and arranged a western blot with Terri Warren last week (I've had a year of pains in my hips and thighs, crawling on my skin, but no obvious lesions, and had a negative immunoblot in October). I did a video conference with Terri who also told me I did not need to order the kit to get it done. She will send you a requisition for the test, but you *must* get your family doctor from Ontario to write a requisition as well for it to get processed. Go to lifelabs and explain the situation to them. The secretary there told me they wouldn't send my blood to Washington, but she called her supervisor and I explained the whole situation to her. After she made a phone call to her higher-ups, it was all arranged and taken care of. They will take one serum-separator tube, spin it, and send it to the University of Washington along with Terri's requisition, but they also need your Ontario doctor's information to send the results to them as well. It cost me $65 at lifelabs for this service, but the western blot through Terri Warren will cost a lot more. That being said, I did this last week and assume everything went through, but I haven't received any confirmation and may not for two more weeks.

I went to Life Labs and Dyna Care and talked with head offices last year and they declined me..They said if there was no kit they would not do it. But they dont need kit they need packaging instructions.

So Terri Warren of Westover Heights has closed her physical office in Portland Or. But still does video conferencing and can help get a test kit to you if you are a USA. Or you can google and then call direct to the university of washington virology dept.  And have them ship you a test kit again only inside the USA. Terri actually now requests that you make the actual order to Univ.Wash. virology but she can act as requesting physician/nurse if you require. Cheaper is you can do yourself. If you are outside USA .. I am trying to figure that out as it seems Univ of Wash will not ship out of USA..Univ Wash..told me i can have a lab simply follow the pdf on how to draw prepare and ship sample tube without a test kit. So i need a lab to agree to the online test procedure or they can call Univ. Of Wash for more details. Univ of Wash virology will not run the test unless there is a physician requisition..Hope this helps.  Im trying to get a physician as some of our Canadian doctors dont see need or belief in WB. Also i havent asked lab if they will do test from a pdf. And phone call.  They will with test kir . good luck..if you have success please reply

Since you are in Ontario, are you close to a border city (Buffalo/Detroit)? Finding an independent lab in one of those cities might be easier. Shipping “hazardous” samples is fairly straight forward from FedEx as long as it’s properly packaged and labeled.

Hmm good point. Niagara Falls New York. 40 mins...But another wrinkle. I guess i need. Sample shipped to the lab...never thought of that. I was thinking it would be shipped directly to me...which could be option in USA.. So if lab accepts then yes. BUT. New York residents also cannot do the WB test because State law prohibits samples being sent for testing out of state...so i have read.  I guess this means a day trip to Erie.  But i hadnt thought of sending test kit directly to the lab to hold . That may be the way. And then getting Terri Warren to act as requisitor.. This is doable if lab will accept package..thank you for advice ..:)    still looking for a way to do it here but at least your plan has merit .:)

What do you mean independant lab?  Oh ya.   I heard quest labs no longer ship the kits .. But Anytime or Anywhere labs something like that will . But they are near Pittsburgh. May as well fly to Seattle LoL.. But thank you...maybe i will contacr T Warren on Evisit after all...she is not available by phone or email.. .:(

I want a WB test because i have had what i believe to be the initial symptoms of HSV followed by a slightly atypical presentation followed by what feels much like the description of Post Herpetic Neuralga for the last year. .This all started 2 days after a woman who was known to have dozens of partners over her life sat on my lap on a lawn chair at an event and kissed me full on lips. The chair fell back with her on top of me. .In two days i started getting pressure under lip, headaches fatigue and nauseated. The fluish symptoms lasted 10 to 14 days the nausea 7 weeks. The pressure in lip area turned purple raised did not break. More spots like small hives started which were very itchy. After a few weeks fatigue was back and face started itching tingling crawling stinging. Little circular dor patterns above lips and itchy. Nerves in face were just burning numb stinging tingling. Eyes would sting and at times little sensations of weeping skin on lips. The itching tingling crawling has changed in intensity but has been there every day for 360 days and counting. Rashy areas above lips and on chin. Went to family doc 11 times and was given benedryl.Got referred to nuerologist who did motor tests and said buy a bike enjoy the summer then enquired about my rash as i was leaving. I said that was why inwas thwre to see him. I did do. A combo HSV 1/2 Elisa non type test at 9 weeks and again at 30 weeks. They were negative. I did an immunublot HSV type specific test at 15 weeks which was negative. I did full std panel at three other times all tests negative. I gave blood , no report of isssues. According tonT Warren HSV1 is false neg 30 percent of time on IGG. Also herpes can become post herpetic as well as present with paper cut or oin head type lesions..i have had two white head looking pimples but also receded without crusting so i could not identify. I asked for derm referral many times and after 9 months dr said ok but stated no derm woukd see me as there is nothing to see. Two referrals were rejected. I found my own derms took names to family doc to make referral. One of them was one of the one previously rejected. I didnt know this. I called derm and. Asked why the rejection and rhey said i needed immediate attention from a plastic surgeon! What? My doc says there is nothing to see yet derm says referral sounds like i need a surgeon? Still waiting 3 weeks on other derm request... Its been a nightmare and ive lost a great and close friend over this. I would like some clarity.Western blot woukd go a long way as it is 99 percent accurate for hsv1. Finally i did go to a walk in ( not supposed to if you have family doc in Ontario) HE actually knelt down with a light ( got closer than 4 feet away) and asked if shaving and shower affect it. Right way i was stunned at his interest. He took out a picture from a file showed me and said this is it. Your case is milder than the picture because yours is smaller and less rashy but you have exzema herpeticum!!? .i told my family doc who said "i doubt it" and still no derm... Face is tingling crawling itchy even eyelids now at times. Oh and very stiff neck at times and swollen lips. Coffee makes  the sensations way worse. Have been drinking coffee most of my 55 years..what more can i say.  Looking to ensure that 30 percent false negative is a true negstive for HSV1.  Terri Warren was the champion of this but seems to me stepping back which i understand i just would like to know how to acquire a viable test method for clarity here in Canada
