Oral Herpes & Swollen Throat Glands

I have had Oral HSV-2 for almost three years.  My glands in my throat have never gone down & I occassionally get several blisters at the back of my throat.  For awhile I thought these would just go down on their own, but this isn't happening.  I take 1G of Valtrex a day.  I just went to my doctor for my annual exam & talked to her about my glands.  She didn't seem to think it was Herpes, but I know it is.  It's embarrassing to discuss, even with a physician.  I can't seem to find anything about Oral Herpes like I have them.  Every post is for Herpes on the lips.  Every post says outbreaks are not recurrent.  I am at a complete loss on what to do other than see an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist.  I am tired of not being able to breath normally.  At the moment the blisters are back too & I just would like some relief.  Anyone out there have this problem or any advice?

I'll gladly take a look at your blood test results if you can get them to post here. All I need to see are your numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 7.6 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are.

Your symptoms in your mouth do not sound like they are relatd to herpes even if you do have herpes orally. sounds like something else entirely going on.

Hi Grace,

Thanks for replying.  I wasn't originally diagnosed with hsv2 orally.  I believe I have it as both.  The guy I was with had it & didn't tell me.  I had oral sex with him & then sex for about 30 seconds.  Two days later I was sick & diagnosed with it through an exam at my gyno's office.  At that point I didn't really think too much about my throat being swollen.  I think I was mostly in shock.  The glands went up & have never gone down.  My blood test says I have hsv1 & hsv2.  Lucky me. :)

My thinking is I am doing something to trigger it.  I do have a stressful job & keep a busy schedule.  I am sure I have some triggers & since the original infection was mostly oral I imagine that's the main site where I got this.  It's just strange because I never read anything about my symptoms on other posts.  It makes me at a loss.  I guess I should just go to the doctor.  Once I do I'll be sure to post an update in case others have this problem.

Definitely you need to go see the ENT specialist at this point. Oral herpes wouldn't cause all of this.

how were you originally diagnosed as having hsv2 orally?
