Oral herpes question

Hello,

So around 5 months ago I tested positive for HSV-1 and I tested 2 months ago and was still positive. I have never had any cold sore symptoms in my life so far that I can remember. So how likely do you think would it be for me to have symptoms at some point in my life. I know that most people have the virus. Sometimes I have tingling around my lips. Do you think these could be slight symptoms?

Thanks.

Unfortunately you will never know. No one can give you a guarantee. Statistics say outbreaks reduce over time - some people never have one.

But everyone's different. This may be an outbreak. I would highly suggest you get to your doctor and have it swabbed and tested for HSV while it is still an open sore. This way you will know for sure what an outbreak in your body looks and feels like -- if it is. Don't guess as to what this might be, just go to the doctor asap.

So you think I will probably never have an outbreak again?

In your circumstance, it is highly likely that you did have symptoms at a very young age such that you do not remember. Perhaps 40% of people with the virus do not experience outbreaks at all.

A general tingling is not likely to be herpes related. Tingling will generally be focused on a small area of in many instances will be followed in hours by a lesion, starting as a reddish slightly raised patch that will usually contain one or more blisters.
