Hepatitis A transmission does involve fecal matter, but this route - someone's hands to doorknob, to your hands to your mouth - wouldn't be an efficient way of transmitting anything.
First, there would have to be enough virus present in order to transmit (this is true for all infections), and after exposure to air, that wouldn't be the case.
Second, hep A transmissions usually involve contaminated foods, water, or direct anal contact - either oral to anal contact or sometimes unprotected anal sex.
There is a vaccine for hepatitis A. If hep A concerns you, you should talk to your doctor or college's health clinic about this. You should also talk to them about your tongue, and never use your fingernails to scrape it.
It also sounds like you may have some anxiety about germs. You should consider talking to your college's counseling center about this.
Well thanks for your response Guitar Rox :) well I recently am using probiotics and diet to help clean my gut. But do you think I may be in danger of hepatitis A since feces could be a risk since this happened in the bathroom
Nice where to have someplace to come to so you can talk to real people. But I do think you are over reacting. Do you have anything like OCD and anxiety? Seems like you might. You aren't going to get herpes from touching door nd then using the hand to touch your mouth. Herpes is a contagious virus but that's not how someone would get it.
I'm going to tell you though that you may want to work on hygiene in terms of washing hands. And I'm not sure where you were to begin scraping your tongue with your finger nail. You may want to consider getting a tongue scraper at the drug store. And what are you doing for the oral thrush?
