My partner from October 2018 did not tell me she had genital Hsv-1. We had unprotected sex multiple times until January 2019 when she first told me. She was on acyclovir. Her doctor said it wasn’t genital herpes cause it was type 1. Which clearly is incorrect. She felt she didn’t need to tell me. Plus she was on medicine which decreased likelihood of transmission.
Since then I’ve been tested 3 times:
1. Igm=1.13 in January 2019 which is 0.04 higher than normal. Indicates a positive test
2. IgG negative around April 2019
3. IgG negative in May 2019
I’ve never had any lesions. In January 2019 I had an abrasion like issue. Doctor saw it and said it was nothing. Gave me a cream and it went away. Doctor also told me that the results of the test he had run, igm of 1.13, meant nothing to him and I should forget it and that nothing looked like herpes.
I have been dating a new partner since. The former girl lasted until March 2019. Now I have a new partner. While dating (openly) I have had two sexual encounters. Oral set performed on me from 2 different girls within the last 2-4 weeks.
Within the last 1.5 weeks I have been feeling symptoms. Kind of like an ache around the head of the penis of the shaft (can’t explain, but it doesn’t feel right). Its almost dull and achey with no evidence of anything on the skin. I initially felt like I was getting sick 1.5 weeks ago (kinda fatigue and feverish). It could be anxiety. I am not sure.
I went back to a doctor a few days ago who didn’t inspect visually but made nothing of my symptoms. He ran an igg test and those results will be back in a few weeks (he’s going on vacation).
My questions:
1. Could this be genital herpes from the original partner who had hsv-1 genitally or could it be hsv from the new encounters ?
2. What do you make of the igm test slightly positive after being exposed from my first partner?
3. What do you make of the two igg negative results?
4. Did I get tested again too soon?
5. Will igg be accurate if I’m currently having symptoms ?
6. Should I get tested again instead of waiting 2 weeks for the new igg results?
Thank you so much! My anxiety is really bad. I can use some input.
