Possible Herpes Transmission??

Hi All,

Can you be infected with herpes from touching infected objects?? I work in a retail store that sells CD/DVDS which requires me to remove all discs before they are placed on display & then reinsert them when it comes to sale time. I therefore place my fingers through the center of the discs constantly, hundreds of times at day which constantly tears at the skin around & above my cuticles.. Today I had a customer who had a red scab on her lip, & whilst I was processing the sale, she was inadvertently rubbing her fingers along her bottom lip right before she handed over her cash?? It seemed like a habit so I also wondered if she could of transmitted her virus to the DVDs she passed over to me.. This is why I ask if herpes can be transmitted indirectly??? I mean this must happen a thousand times over in retails stores everyday with no herpes transmission to staff but am I at greater risk for having really torn cuticles?? With any answer, yes or no, could you explain why?? Thank you..

Btw.. I recently had a full STD test done recently which included HSV 1 & 2 which all came back negative so I know I dont have anything along the line of Herpes other than chicken pox when i was younger.

no you won't get herpes from money either.

herpes is a direct contact infection - you need heat and friction and direct contact with the virus from person to person contact. It's not like the cold and flu germs that you can get from touching surfaces.

Hi Grace,

Sorry to ask, but I seem to be suffering a little anxiety over contracting the herpes virus?? Stupid I know, but am struggling to overcome this, so I was wondering if you could answer one last question for me??

Whilst my former post was on contracting herpes whitlow, my new question is.. Can you get eye herpes if you handled money with the virus on it, from a customer touching thier cold sore then immediately handing you money. If you came into contact with the virus on your fingers, then immediately rubbed your eye, could you be infected this way??
