What are the chances of a false positive?

Hey all, I received a positive test result for HSV 1 in September of 2015. I was initially stumped because I have never experienced symptoms, and up until now, have just been waiting for one of those sneaky outbreaks. My partner and I have been together since I found out, and he has been tested twice since, once in Dec. 2015 and once in Apr. 2016. Both tests came back negative for HSV 1 & 2. So here I am, still fretting about having herpes, still no break outs. I would get a retest done, but I currently have no health insurance and cannot afford it.

The test I had done was an IGG type specific for HSV 1, and I tested positive with 1.57, where the positive is >1.10, the equivocal is .9 - 1.10 and negative is <.9.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows the chances that my result would be a false positive? Thank you for your feedback in advance!

The odds are good it is a false positive. It's around 50/50. Or it's a long standing infection from your youth and you don't get cold sores. This is also common.
My advice is to wait a bit and retest.
