Questions on transmitting HSV 1

My question is how easy is it to transmit oral HSV 1 to genitals through oral sex if there are no signs of a breakout?  I know it is possible I am just wondering how likely it is?  To clarify by no signs of a break out I mean for atleast a week before and a week after the encounter.  I am also wondering durring a breakout how long afterwards is some one still considered highly contagious?  How long does the shedding stage last?  Thanks, any information will be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately if you weren't seen by now, you aren't going to get easy answers if this is herpes. You needed seen within the first few days for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Definitely keep your appointment and get tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally. If they are negative, wait 3 or 4 months and get a herpes igg blood test done. Should you get a return of symptoms before that time frame is up, be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for proper herpes testing.

Also, every year when I go in for my regular gyno check up, I go ahead and have them do testing for STDs.  They have always come back negative,  But apparently it is common to have to specifically request Herpes testing and I can't remember if that was ever one of the tests.  And the boyfriend has the same story.

This is why I am concerned:  I have been in a monogomous relationship for three years.  Since he was little he's had approximately one cold sore a year on his mouth.  About a week ago I started having signs of what appears to be an outbreak.  I am wondering what the odds are that I contracted HSV-1 or if it is something else.  I have a doctors appointment scheduled, but until then I can't help but to obsess.  My symptoms started with in itch, that turned into large red bumps, and now the whole area is swollen and red.  While the large red bumps are still there I have also had blisters form with clear liquid.  It still itches but also feels almost like chemical burns.  My lymph nodes are extremely swollen and painful as well.  Does this sound like I contracted the virus or something else?  Thank you for your quick response and thank you for all future responses.

we really don't have stats for hsv1 genitally like we do hsv2.

doyou know your partner's hsv1 status?

You are contagious at least a day before the cold sore and until the skin has healed in most cases.
