Hey kens,
Just wanted to tell you not to be afraid. I know it's easier said than done, but know that you're definitely not alone. I'm a 25 year old male who has always been safe, and had a one night stand in Europe with a girl I was smitten with when the condom broke. Now, I have a constant tingle in my urethra, and after going to the doctor, everything seems to be coming back normal except for HSV2, which came out to a low positive (1.15).
I know it's rough, and I know you're scared, but no matter what happens, I definitely have taken a bit of comfort in the fact that there have been so many people on these sites who seem to be completely taken by surprise with their diagnosis. It either has come out of nowhere, or from someone they trusted or from a random lack of judgement that happened once.
Yeah, I'm scared too, and as you'll see, there are many more confused like us, but please know you're not alone. We're all hoping for the best for each other, and we're all hoping to figure this all out soon :-)
Just send it and wait for the test. Fear of the unknown is a waste of your mental power.Youve got to learn to handle these things in life because when this ones over another one will pop up.
Situations that we experience in life are only proof we are alive and i think your not seeing life as it is. Sometimes good happens and sometimes bad and we deal with both with a positive outlook no matter what fear we are facing.
Dont be afraid to live!
I have everything set up to send my blood off to the University of Washington. I have to wait for the kit.
It was not as straight forward as i think it should be to get this done.
I don't have a normal care provider so i had to call UW, have the kit sent to my home, get a doctor to fill out the order (went to urgent care), now when i receive the kit i have to go to a lab.. have them draw it.. then box it up and send it off with a check for roughly $160.
I'm really scared to send it off. I feel like my chances for a normal relationship are coming to an end. I'm only 34, luckily I already have 2 kids with my Ex. This is proof that it only takes one time, and condoms don't matter in the end. In reflection I wish I was a little less eager to have sex. I have never had an outbreak, but how can i ever expose someone i love to this possiblity?
Tell your doc to draw the blood, send it to lab to be forwared to washington state
What is the best way to go about getting the WB test.. Just get in with a doc and tell them about my situation? The public health center has no idea what i'm talking about.
Is there any reason a doctor wouldn't want to help me get this test done ?
the biokit is considered a confirmatory test for hsv2 but the WB is really the way to go.
I'm trying to get in with a doctor so that I can do the western blot. I was also thinking of doing the biokit .. but if i have to wait ill just go straight for the WB.
Hi with no breakouts and a low positive score and no sex for the last 5 months it could be a false positive. Just be aware that over 1 for all general reasons means positive. For retesting for false positve issues its best to use another test for confirmation.
