Equivocal after 4 months

Hello,

So a few days ago I got a text from a guy I used to date, he told me he was hsv2 positive. The next day I got a full std exam and came negative for hsv1 but equivocal for hsv2. It has been over 4 months from our last encounter. Also, he told me he was certain a girl he saw after me gave it to him but now I'm not sure he didn't have it all along.

Im so confused, how long do the antibodies or whatever take to develop and result into a full positive test, it has been 4 months?! If he had it when we were dating, I should have tested positive by now. I am taking antibiotics for an eye infection, cellulitis, that I had. Im not sure if that skewed the result to equivocal from negative.

Igg hsv2 tests are very sensitive. Equivocal is not positive. In fact any numeric value under a 3.5 is suspect for being a false positive. Move on without concern. You clearly did not contract hsv2 from him. I draw that conclusion from two factors. First being the testing you took and your complete lack of obvious herpes symptoms.
