your provider would've recognized a syphilis chancre. - they are pretty obvious and the most difficulty is deciphering between syphilis and herpes.
if you doubt the diagnosis you were given when you were seen, go monday and be seen again elsewhere.
You make a good point Kirmal. The bump on my penis was larger then the ones on the rest of my skin. It does however produce water just like all the other bumps. Thanks for the feedback. I really needed to feel better about this.
primary syphilis, scabies and herpes all are described as 'little red bumps' on the internet and on lists of symptoms but doctors spend years distinguishing one type of little red bump from another. i'd go with the doctor, he's the one who gets paid to do this :)
Ok thank you. I'm still surprised the doctor only looked at the bump and made such a rash decision. It was found out that I have scabies and he thinks it may have spread to my genitalia.
be sure to get that tested quick though, primary syphillis doesn't last long and after that you need to get a blood test at 6 weeks. and i'm pretty sure viral cultures for herpes are only reliable within 48 hours of an outbreak.
yeah syphillis is a bacterial infection so we can kill it. there will be syphillis bacteria present in the swab that can be tested for just like there will be herpes virus in a herpes sore that can be detected by PCR.
Isn't the treatment for syphilis antibiotics?
get it swabbed. it could be syphillis which is a much nastier condition than herpes (but it's curable).
Went to the doctor. He said it was most likely not herpes but he couldn't be sure. That kind of scares me.
going to be seen for this is the best course of action. we have no way of knowing what is going on.
