So Confused...Please Help!

A little over a month ago, I went to see my Primary Care Dr. for what I thought was an abcess on my vagina. He prescribed an antiobiotic and then I went to my OB for a followup the next week. There, a culture test was performed which came back positive for MRSA. 2 days later, the OB's office called and said I had also tested positive for HSV II. I went back about 3-4 weeks later to be tested for antibodies. My results came back as follows:

HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec

<0.91

0.00-0.90

N

HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec

<0.91

0.00-0.90

N

HSV, IgM I/II Combination

2.08 Ratio

0.00-0.90

H

What does this mean? My doctor said I am positive for HSV II but I have also read that the IgM test is not accurate or reliable?

Please Help!

glad you looked up the mrsa info on your own!!

your bf needs tested. his avoiding testing just means the more you have to retest yourself. if he tests and is negative for hsv2, you don't have to test again. if he refuses, you'll need to repeat your hsv2 igg blood testing in 3 months just to be sure.

Thank you for responding Grace. I have advised my boyfriend to be tested but he hasn't done it yet. He believes that since we have been together exclusively for 3+ years if one of us did indeed have it there would have been outbreaks long before now. He says he's never had one doesn't think I actually had one either. I'm still working on him about being tested for his own safety. As for the MRSA, my provider didn't provide any information about it but I have researched it on my own.

current cdc recommendations are that igm herpes testing not be performed on adults due to the high false positive issues. your provider really can't tell you diddly squat about your herpes status based on a + non-specific herpes igm.

do you have a regular partner? if so, have they been tested for herpes yet to know their own status?

did your provider give you info on MRSA with the cleaning and laundry precautions and such? i f not, be sure to google.
