Too Soon for symptoms?

Hi,  I am a 28 year old man, and recently engaged in sexual intercourse with a female.  I wore a condom the entire time.  The next day, I had some red spots on my lower stomach (in the area below my naval, just above my pubic hair).  There were about 6 red spots, 4 of which were in sort of a grouping.  These all appeared either by the next morning after sex, or at the latest 36 hours later.  They did not itch, I had no burning during urination, and the marks did not crust over - rather, they just disappeared over the course of the next 5-6 days.

I have been tested for herpes in the past and it has come back negative, but now I am worried that I acquired it.  Still, everything I read (including on this site) says that symptoms need at least 48 hours to appear, and nothing appeared after that time.  What could this be?

A newly acquired herpes infection wouldn't show up this quickly.  It's most likely something else going on but since it's gone now, no way to find out what it was.

I can tell you that most people will say that doesn't sound like herpes....you might want to post that in the STD forum or maybe even ask one of the experts.
