Oral Hsv-1

Hello, it's been like 5 months that i got infected with hsv-1 but one symptom i have from it is a headache and i just want to know if it's normal for people with hsv-1 to experience headaches.  I've been reading about hsv-1 and all i read is about fever blisters but i never hear about people experiencing headaches.  I read some time ago that people with hsv-1 need to avoid certain types of foods that contain arginine to avoid fever blisters but i never hear about avoiding headaches.  i usually get headaches in sun exposure and eating some types of food.

No, i haven't engaged in sexual intercourse prior to testing(virgin).  The fever blister i got it on the cheek i misspelled that. I also got a canker sore inside my mouth on my gums just one time, i forgot to add that before .  I noticed something was wrong when i used to get headaches frequently when in exposure with the sun and with some foods.  I then believed they weren't caused by hsv1.  I started taking lysine supplements and that is when i noticed hsv 1 might not be the cause of my headaches. I took two lysine supplements one from now foods and the other called super quantum lysine.  I still got the headaches while taking those supplements since i didn't want to take medicines for herpes because one of the side effects i didn't like was neurotoxicity.  I'll go and get myself tested tomorrow again for hsv1 and hsv2.  Do you know the most accurate test for hsv 1 and hsv 2?.  The first test I took it in mexico that is why the results were kind of different, but I'm going to take this new one in the USA.

No, headaches frequently are not a symptom of herpes.

Your + igg for hsv1 at the time of your symptoms means that you have had hsv1 prior to when you thought you contracted it. The + igm at the same time is pretty typical for recurrences. It sounds like your symptoms you experienced were actually due to a non-herpes viral infection more than an initial oral herpes infection too. Not unusual at all for other infections to trigger a recurrence either. That is why they are commonly called cold sores/fever blisters - anything that causes you to be ill tends to trigger the virus to reoccur. A lesion inside the cheek typically isn't due to herpes but usually other causes.

You will need to pursue additional testing to confirm your hsv2 status. Have you ever engaged in sexual intercourse with anyone prior to your testing?

Interesting, I would have to conclude these are negative results. I haven't seen the limits expressed like that.

HSV1 will generally not cause headaches, no. Much more likely there is another cause.

Hsv 1 IGG:2.36
Hsv1 IGm:5.1
Hsv2 IGG:2.95
Hsv2 IGM:4.33

I took the test 2 months after the fever blister appeared.  When i took the herpes test they tested me for both hsv 1 and hsv 2.  I didn't have sexual intercourse with the girl so i don't know why i got high numbers in the hsv 2.  i read before in this forum that it can get a false positive.  I just want to know if hsv 1 is causing the headaches, i usually get them when in exposure with the sun or eating some types of foods. i'm just curious that maybe it is hsv 2 but i don't know since every person with hsv 1 just say they experience fever blisters(cold sores) but they never say they experience headaches like i'm doing right now.

It is getting clearer though.

It does not seem likely that you were infected at the time of experiencing a single cheek blister. If you have HSV1, i'd suggest the likelihood is that you were infected probably in your youth.

What was your IgG result and how long after the blister appeared was the test taken?

What this therefore all means is that the fever, headache etc. will not be due to HSV. If it were a primary infection then yes there are several related causes of headaches, but these wouldn't tend to last more than a few weeks. If there was an issue with the virus crossing into the brain for example, you wouldn't be capable of writing on the net like this!

i forgot to add in the last post that i also got a fever in the symptoms after 1-2weeks.  Furthermore, after i got that fever blister in my cheek after hsv exposure i have never got one of them again.  I just get these headaches that i want to get rid off.

I got infected by kissing a girl in the mouth. By the next day or two when i kissed the girl, i got a fever blister in my cheek and tingling and that's how i'm sure i got hsv because i never gotten them in my life. By the next week or two i started experiencing the symptoms of an initial infection with the virus, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes by my neck, white tongue, and a horrible headache.  I got diagnosed via the IGG IGM herpes test.  I want to know if the headaches are a symptom of hsv-1 because i get them quite frequently.
