You can only get hsv on the genitals from genital contact with the virus.
Her swab tested positive for both or was this a blood test? If so which blood test. Igm or igg? I need the numeric values if the positive testing was by blood.
This is all VERY important in trying to figure out what's going on.
Also the only thing I've ever had close to symptoms started before I ever even had sex.. I've had severe cystic acne my whole life and after starting acutane it started to appear in my groin but it has been nearly a year since the last time I had any down there
I need the information above before I can help you further.
Explain the acne on or around your genital area. What areas was it covering
Your right. Doesn't sound like herpes.
That's reassuring. I am getting tested in the morning hoping for negative results.. would it be possible that my girlfriend has oral hsv1 and 2 and that the bump she found was unrelated. Or that I gave it to her genitaly with no symptoms of
My own
I am not sold that your girlfriend has both. This is why I need the tests performed and the numeric results.if in fact she had blood tests performed.
I saw it was by blood. Sorry about that. Now, she needs to get the results. Again igg or igm and numeric value of the positive tests.
HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec 54.60 High index 0.00 - 0.90 01
Negative 1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV-1. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV-1.
HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec 2.34 High index 0.00 - 0.90 01
Negative 1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV-2. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV-2.
Ok. Now we are getting somewhere. Her hsv1 is very high and clearly positive. However, just like I thought her hsv2 is low and falls into the false positive range. The false positive range is anything lower than a 3.5
She has a very good chance this is a false positive. Cross over from hsv1 can and does happen. Being you're her only sexual partner for Intercourse also further supports a false positive. I would look into the western blot test from the University of Washington. That test will sort it out
Ok looks like a complicated process but we will definitely do it. Are false positives common? What causes such low numbers
False low positives are common. Hsv2 tests are very sensitive and cross over for hsv1 antibodies is one thing that happens. Another is it picks up odd proteins. Think of the value number like a confidence number. The higher the number the more confident the test. The lower number means other saw something but not sure what.
Hi also, what Don is advising is almost certainly correct and the hsv2 is a false positive and the thing is her hsv1 is most likely oral not vaginal. One bump in the vaginal area does not suggest a herpes outbreak as most often there are clusters. Only a swab of an active sore would conclude its vaginal.
Got my results today.. from what I understand I'm negative but these results are practically French to the layman. Any reason for concern here?

I am assuming your hsv2 was also non-reactive. If so then you are hsv free
Didn't say no reactive on either
It says non reactive above for hsv1
Huh weird it does on what I pasted here, but on the actual result it doesn't say non reactive for either.. maybe cause I did it on my phone

Ok. So where are your actual results. Those are just the testing value scales.
Thats all I got.. took a 10 panel std check at labcorp
