Tested Positive, Need Help Please

My blood test came back and all it ays it

Herpes Simple Virus IgG EIA --- Reactive
Herpes Simplex Virus Interpretation ---Herpes Simplex Virus IgG antibodies detected.

What does the EIA part mean? Could this have come back negative? There were 2 incidents where I could have been infected, one being a month and a half ago and the other a few weeks ago. The girl I was with I did not have sex with, just some fun petting and she performed oral on me. She said after the oral that she had HSV genitally (which she caught through a boyfriend from a cold sore, so I'm assuming it's HSV-1). What's the next step? I have a bacterial swab coming back in a week. Should I get retested for IgG (I was surprised they went straight ahead with the the IgG)? Can I get myself typed with levels just yet?

Right now I don't have any symptoms screaming in my face telling me they're herpes. I have a few blisters on the backs of my hands, and some cuts but I'm pretty sure those were caused at work. I have no symptoms on my lips as far as I can tell, and there might be a slight pain at the end of my penis but with no obvious lesions anywhere in my genitals. The doctor prescribed my acyclovir and booted me out, and my plan was to not take it until some serious symptoms manifest so I could have a better idea of where I have it. Is this a bad idea in any other way than me making myself suffer?

My other questions involve living with herpetic whitlow, if that's what I do have (definitely more likely than anything else). How do I live my life? Humans are very social creatures and hands are kind of required, but if I'm not wearing latex gloves I feel like I have no hands. Can I eat chips and other finger food? Can I smoke? Can I shake hands? Can I touch my arm or face? Do I have to masturbate with a glove on? Can I shake hands? I have no idea how infectious I am. I'm terrified of my own hands, which is ridiculous to me.

Thank you all for your help!

the blood test results you posted do not list type specific results.  you'll need to repeat the blood test with a type specific test to get real answers.

www.herpesdiagnosis.com has terrific info on herpes blood testing for mor einfo.

Oh, and what is the protocol for showering? Do I have to wear gloves, or will the constant flush of soap and warm water protect me?

Thanks.
