diagnosed 1 wk ago

It has been 1 wk since I was diagnosed w/genital herpes. This is my 1st outbreak, and I started treatment right away(Valtrax and Zovicar crm). I picked up some lemon balm cream at the health food store, and have found it to be very soothing to the area. Better than the Zovicar cream(that kinda burned). My lesions have pretty much all gone away, except for 3 larger ones by my vaginal opening. I thought that they were supposed to crust over when they were healing? Mine have just faded away. Is that normal?

Thought you did :)  I made myself read the book last year and enjoyed it though I think you could edit out a good 200 pages and still get the gist of it much better.   It was one of many classics of modern literature that I had never gotten a chance to read ( granted if I had HAD to read it in school, probably would've hated it! ).   I try to alternate my mind candy novels with something worthwhile every now and then :)

Yes, I did mean Zovirax cream. I can't seem to spell today. There's so much info out there, it can be kinda intimidating. Thank you for responding so quickly and putting my mind at ease that things are progressing have they are supposed to.

do you mean zovirax cream? I couldn't find a match for zovicar cream to comment on it. zovirax ointment doesn't really do squat for genital herpes so if it burns, don't bother using it.

If you are expecting the lesions to crust over like a skinned knee, it's not going to happen ( I know, hard not to think that when they talk about the lesions crusting but crusting refers to the stages of healing more so than the appearance of things as they heal ).  The moist, mucous membrane type skin in the genital area doesn't really crust like that and they will appear to just heal and fade away more so than anything else. Keeping them moist with the lemon balm cream also helps to keep the skin softer so it will appear less "crusty" for lack of a better word this early in the morning.
