herpes or allergic reaction or somthing else????

Hi I am in a total mess about having some symptoms which sounds like it could be herpes. On last saturday my lip itched and was tingly and in seconds after scratching it with my teeth some water blister showed up on my right side of my  upper lip (which fits the description of a cold sore). I had a eaten a fruit right after so i am not sure if its GH or a an allergic reaction. I am in a total mess, I can sleep, can't eat and i feel totally stressed out.
I told my boyfriend about it and well my anxiety has calmed down a bit. I went and got tested because im in a state of shock and really shaken my this. I even more nervous about the results because as i read HSV1 CAUSES COLD SORES AND HSV2 CAN CAUSE COLD SORES AND IS RESPONSIBILE FOR GH. I am totally totally freaked out because of asymptomic shedding i couyld have HSV2. So my questions are:

1) can the water blisters on my lip be an allergic reaction or is it definitely HSV1 (BECAUSE TO ME THIS IS MY FIRST COLD SORE)

2) Could i have contracted HSV2  in the past and not know?

Please please help anyone..Its one week and the cold sore has completely healed and its was not to big,jus the size of an acne pimple. Please understand i am so ignorant about herpes now im trying to educate myself and praying for the best.

Thanks petal130 for your response. I am very stressed out about the possibility that i may have herpes and i may have passed it on to my bf unknowingly. I unable to sleep , i have no appetite and overall i have fall into a depression wondering if i have herpes. I understand how common hsv1 is. I went and got tested but may not get the results until 2 weeks. The what ifs in life are so scary but I am hoping and praying for th best when the results come back.

HSV1 doesn't turn into HSV2, if that's part of your concern.

Yes, if you have oral herpes and perform oral sex on someone, you can transmit the virus to their genitals. I in fact have genital HSV1 from my partner performing oral sex on me. He's had oral HSV1 since he was a teen.

And yes, if you're sexually active and have had sex with someone who has genital herpes, you could have it yourself.

So you scratched your lip with your teeth - it's no wonder a blister formed perhaps?

Oral herpes is incredibly common; 1 out of every 2 to 3 people you kiss will have it. Most of those (more than 1/2 the adult population) who have oral herpes acquired it in childhood from that big smooch from Auntie.

Next time you have symptoms, be seen right away for a swab/culture to know if it's herpes. You can also get an IgG type specific blood test to know your status for both HSV1 and HSV2.
