hsv2 question
IM NEW AT THIS SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME!!
i had an std panel test done on monday and by friday i called in for the results and the nurse said i was hsv2 positive, and that i should read up on this and inform myself bout it!! she said there was no way to know when i got it and that it was in my blood.
i did read up on it but im still kinda confused!!!
today i had the dr call me back (but apparently my phone when straight to voicemail)and he left a message saying "he saw the results and i have nuttin to worry bout....having that test positive just means i came in contact with it but have no lesions" im confused,WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! I DO HAVE IT OR I DONT!? i mean, i know positive means YES i do have it, but he's sayin not to worry about it that i just came in contact with it but i have no lesions?!?!!? (o_O) sooo confusing!!!

good, ill try some of them to kinda soothe the dryness, till it goes back to normal :)
and it is a lil "encouraging" to know there can be false positive issues and I MIGHT b one of those statistics (again not gettin my hopes up but it does feel good) and yes, i think i might just wait, i think i feel more comfortable now!!!

not unusual for things to not feel quite right down yonder yet. give it a week or two and it should feel better. It's ok to use a barrier cream like a&d, zinc oxide, aquaphor etc to soothe irritated genital skin as well as protect it from further irritation while it heals.
yes there are false positive issues which is why getting the 2nd test done will help you figure out if it's a true positive or not. You can call your provider to have them order the test to be done for you or just wait until your appointment in january if you want.

so, does that mean i might not REALLY HAVE IT, since its a low positive?!?! (not gettin my hopes up but it does sound good) do u think i should wait a couple of months to do it...cause i will b back for my yearly in january and i can get it done then!! and yesss they do use quest labs!!!
and yess, i was told that its very common to get THAT....i did get some metronidazole vag. gel for five days and then fluconazole for 2days and its gone, BUT y is it that i feel it pretty dry down there?!?! cld it also be that i have an "allergic reaction" or "side effect" to the nuva ring (cause thats another thing that my dr told me) or is it just me STRESSING OVER ALL THIS?!?!
and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UR INFO. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT :) makes me feel more at ease to be able to ask somebody else besides my dr!

so i got a copy of my test results today, and i guess i was hoping that they werent positive but they are :(

This assay is type specific and will differentiate between HSV1 and HSV2 infection. A single positive result only indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may not be used to determine active infection or disease stage.""
so i guess that means ive had it for a while then right?! just neva really had an outbreak, even what i had last week wasnt an outbreak, apparently it was gardnerella vaginalis (per the other positive result on my test results) : [

i did try an make an appointment today because im so confused, and i did want to know ^^ those results and to see how long before i can re-test (just to make sure) but all they told me was that I DIDNT REALLY NEED TO COME IN that the dr would give me a call :(
so im think im callin tomorrow again and for sure makin an appointment wether they want it or not....and once i get my results and im still confused I WILL COME BACK!! thanx for ur help :)

I can best help you if you call and get the exact test results to post here - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.3 and hsv2 igg 9.5 or whatever they are. that way we can be sure that you are properly tested and see if you need any further confirmatory testing done to be sure of your status. There are some false positive issues with the testing so getting your results double checked is always a good idea.
