i wanted to know if i have unprotected sex and have no symptoms of HSV2 at the time of intercourse what are the precentages of passing on the virus to an uninfected person ?

have you read the free herpes handbook yet? also Terri's book "the good news about the bad news" is available on amazon for under $20 and goes into more details than her handbook does.

thanks for the quick reply grace it was a tiny cut that is a few days old and on the front of the hand didnt realise till afterwards and was concerned then, do u think there is a big chance of it being infected now ? he doesnt have gh ,, also can u give me a link to a page or some info on how not to transmit to a new partner maybe where questions have been answered im gonna make an appointment with the specialist for us both to talk but until then id like some honest facts to show him x thanks grace x

when you have an open cut, cracked skin or bitten finger nails, you shouldn't be manually stimulating a partners genital area no matter what their std status. The opening in the skin is a risk for infection for them from what is usually normal bacteria in the genital area plus any bacteria in the open cut, can cause issues in the genital area.

Hey Grace just a quick question, if my partner has a cut on the front of his finger and he uses that hand for masturbating me can he get gh on his hand in the cut even if i dont have sores ?

thanks grace, you sound like my mammy lol ;0) just sometimes u need to hear it from someone else... tbh i was SHOCKED to hear when he said he had it then it came bk that they just asked him bk in for the results, so i feel and pray deep down he doesnt have it ... just wish i knew so i could be comfortable with having another relationship without passing it on... but life goes on.. wish it wasnt such a big deal GH  and that it was just as "normal" to the outside world as coldsores !! so not fair ! but life isnt fair eh! im ready to move on now and with your help its taken a massive weight off my shoulders...

i dont worry about the other issues i think its just coming from stress etc because as soon as i told the dr recently that i havent had an "outbreak" and the burning sensation travelling around my body had practically disappeared, a week later i get it bk ! #stress !!??  i reckon so... but ive had my hormones all my bloods and bacterial yeast and sti/d testing done and im all good so god only knows .. but as long as i know the risk is small to a male partner i can somewhat relax..

we could guess until the proverbial cows come home about him and we'd still be getting nowhere.  if he did test + for genital herpes, the clinic is not going to bug him repeatedly - they really don't care to be honest. If he isn't bothered and coming back for help, they have no reason, nor do they have the time, to hold his hand and encourage him to be a big boy and come back to deal with all of this better.  

overall the risk of transmission of hsv2 to a male partner is incredibly small.  since you have multiple issues going on it sounds like, getting to the bottom of all of it is your main concern at this point since I can't imagine you feel very sexy with your nether regions acting up on a regular basis :(

i know its just so hard to understand,  do you think the clinic would keep onto him if they thought he was infected ?? i havent had much contact but he has never said they re rang him to come bk in etc and i presume they would ? or maybe not i dnt know :o/ i know its not my problem now but i feel as though it is and dont feel i can have another comfortable relationship without passing it to every guy im in a relationship wit now !

indeed you can have genital herpes and also have other issues going on. being seen every time you have symptoms by your gyn hopefully will help you get to the bottom of things. perhaps they can work with a dermatologist to finally figure what all is going on.

he's an ex. if he's trying to make his anger make you feel guilt, ignore him. if he choses not to be seen regularly to find out what is going on - that's his issue not yours. just one more reason to know that you ended the relationship for a good reason!  if he does have genital herpes, he can have a family and live a completely normal life.  

herpes is not transmitted through mutual masturbation.

hey grace, things i feel did improve still get sorness but after a chat with my sister she informed me that she suffers similar but its vaginal psoriasis but i dunno im confused because i thought that was dry skin not splits like i feel. anyhow the main reason im bk on is because i broke up with my long term partner of 2 n half yrs 6months ago, hes saying i gave him GH but i find it hard to believe him we were soooo carful bar one or two slips wen i was drunk but he used to tell me he wanted to get it so we could have a normal relationship and a baby, this is not what i wanted as we were not secure enough to have  a child ! he tells me he went to the clinic and when they rang with results they wouldn give them over the phone and told him to come in, he was tested with me awhile bk and he says he got no phone call because he was clear or so thats what the dr said , that she wouldnt ring if he was clear, basicallly i just want to know if he had GH would the clinic continue to contact him to come bk or would they just leave it ?? he tells me hes had sores and his penis has swelled etc i dont know what to do because he wont go bk for the results if he even went at all, plus there are alot of males in his family ie his dad who has cancer and an uncle that passed away so i worry there could be more to it than GH :o( i have to contact with him i have no contact with him since only an incident at the wknd which landed me in hospital with a bust lip he tells me hel never be able to have kids because of me and that ive ruined his life.. i really feel and hope he doesnt have it as in the previous msg the specialist on GH  explained that what i was experiencing wasnt GH and the only outbreak that was certain to be GH  we def did NOT have sex at  this time !!

Also i wanted to know if GH lives on vaginal fluid outside the body if you have no symptoms at the time ie if fore play occurs with me  from another guy then he  touches his genitals can he get GH this way ??

went to the infectious diseases specialist on the 21st of April, she was very confident that what i was experiencing on a regular basis every month was not herpes and that the burning is not herpes, she put me on Valtrex for 6 months and a steriod cream called canasten and some other stuff for fungal infections,i need to go back to my GP now to figure out what exactly is causing the burning sensation if its not herpes, although i do have the virus she says it will always come back in the same place ie to the front and not the back where ive been experiencing soreness she reckons the symptoms i had in the front the last time i got swabbed was and came back positive for herpes so thats obvious but i cant believe that what ive been going through for the last yr been so worried and extremely cautious was not herpes i do feel happier about this and knowing also now that its practically impossible for me to be resistant to the Valtrex as im the "normal" patient ie i dont have HIV or Aids or any other stds. although the first ten mins of my time with the dr made me feel id wasted my time again with some one who doesnt believe the symptoms im having feel identical to the herpes episode but now im coming to terms with the fact that she is the SPECIALIST and not ME ! Im gonna take things easy now and not stress every time i feel a twinge or soreness but to put my mind at rest i def need to find out what the flashes of burning around my body are, but thats just because im over cautious and paranoid person as ive had family members die because they were too brave to go to the dr. ok sorry for the long winded msg but i just wanted to check back and thank you for all your help and support at this time its been a great help to me and helped me cope, im going to stay away from dr GOOGLE from now on and stick to the professionals, once again thank you and your team for all the great work ye do! xxxx

Hi Grace,

just keeping up to date,  i started the Valtrex on the 24th of Feb, ive had the symptoms  3 times whilst on the Valtrex and once before. in one month. i took one Valtrex a day for one month doubling up if i felt an attack coming on, this was to no affect if anything i thought ive had it more this  month than most, meaning it has been lasting a day or two longer than the 4 day period, this could be due to me keeping more of a track of it than normal though. My G.P has made an appointment for the infectious diseases specialist on the 21st of April fortunately for me she has sent me as a public patient so i wont be charged or as much as i would private so i feel theres no harm in seeing what she  has to say any advice is good advice at this stage.
Something i've noticed about the attacks is that this one which ive currently had since friday gave strong signs that it was coming ie burning in foot, behind knee, arm and upper thigh regularly, i am also due my menstrual cycle which i always get an attack before during or after, the attack before this wasnt as obvious and i just woke up with it no obvious signs that struck me the lesion was on the lower perineum near to the anal region this time i feel i have it in the anus, im wondering now if the last attack i had was herpes compared to this one but there would be no other obvious reason to me, for the lesion that was there?

haven't tried the valtrex yet as  ive only just heard about it my dr has wrote a perscription for it and which i hope get on monday, im going to try it for a month and see if it makes any difference i was taking 2 x famvir a day every day and doubling up when i felt an attack coming on it made no difference atall i tried this for i think it was 6months or more but maybe it just wasnt the right one for me so im going to give the valtrex a shot id try anything for a half "normal" life right now.

perhaps you just need to work on the doses you were taking to find a dose that works better for you? have you tried 500mg valtrex 2x/day for suppressive therapy?

Hi grace thanks so much yes i kind of get what you mean im going to speak to my dr again tomorrow this is what she thought also {that i shouldnt need to be on the meds to do the test } and argued with the guy in the lab i really wanted this done its what ive been waiting to get done for two years now and theres no way im paying for these meds again if there all just the same which i know deep down that its not going to work i know my own body and i know that these med just werent doing anything for me not in the slightest way, it makes me so angry to have ppl who have no proper knowledge of hsv2 dealing with me im especially angry with the guy at the lab, no point in getting stressed though as i know it will bring on an attack of hsv2, once again i REALLY appreciated your advice and quite frankly id be lost without this support X
