my children

Is it possible to spread herpes 2 to my children if they took a shower after me and used my wash cloth?

Thank you so much for the quick response.  Against my better judgment, I was reading information online.  I will find a way to live with this, but I wouldn't be able to handle it if I gave it to them.  If you do not mind one more question, I would like to ask one. I was just diagnosed a week ago.  I have my next appt. on Friday.  I was confirmed through a blood test on Monday.  Should I get retested?  What test should I recommend to the doctor?

not likely at all. in theory the virus could survive but there are no documented cases of it occurring.  the washcloth would have to have active virus on it plus still be warm for it to even begin to be a risk to someone. conditions hard to have in the first place.

everyone in a household should have their own towel, washcloth, toothbrush, razor and body buff because very common germs are easily transmitted through sharing them.  If the kids can't remember who's towels are whose, buy everyone a "signature" color so they always know that green is dad's, purple is mom's, blue is oldest son, pink oldest daughter etc.

no reason not to share a bathroom/shower because you have herpes.  the virus is easily killed with soap.
