red bump?! herpes? help?

Hi everyone, I recently noticed a small round bump on my left butt cheek, no where near my anus or crack.  it slightly itched the other day (wed) in the shower and I thought it was just a bug bit, then it went unnoticed until this afternoon (Fri) when I must have irritated it cause it was slightly stinging...particularly after I put some antibacterial cream on it.  it certainly doesn't look menacing but I have a weird feeling about it.  I am a sexually active gay man, I've had two partners in the past month but both were protected encounters.  the position it's at seemed kind of strange to really be worried about it but thought I would ask on here.  I plan on getting it checked out this coming week just in case.  I'm worried it could be a mild herpes outbreak...even though it's just 1 red bump and no rash or overly irritating symptoms, I can barely feel it now.  it's not a pimple, at least theres no white head or anything.  does this ever happen in an initial outbreak?  would it happen on my cheek like that?  any advice or information?  thanks in advance!

2 years ago I was HSV free, I was checked with a "standard" test that did not look for herpes last year...since then I've had 3 partners but the number of sexual encounters were limited and never at the same time.   I feel like my risk is fairly low, and yet you never know :(  I posted a picture because the dermatology forum allows for picture posts, so sorry for that.  After doing more research I'm leaning towards folliculitis since there is a rather obvious hair at the center of the irritation.  I still plan on getting check out tomorrow morning.

we don't look at pictures here. this is explained in our read before posting post on the forum.

the best thing to do is to be seen monday and follow up on this properly.  it could be any number of things and not all of them std related either of course.

have you ever been tested for herpes before to know your status? the rates of hsv2 infection in gay males is 60% on average and condoms are not 100% protection against transmission to it's well worth proper testing for regularly.
