Thanks again, Grace. I have done that, and after the initial surprise, have been very supportive. I do have a question about medication. I am taking Acyclovir now, 400mg a day, but heard that one of the other medications was better at protecting your partner. Is that true? Should I be taking another form of antiviral? Also, when breakouts do occur, is there a vulvar cream that can help with the pain?
Really no reason to notify prior partners. You have no idea when you contracted it. they are all grown adults and should be following up on things on their own as far as std screening. We only recommend talking about this with current partners and any future partners.

Thanks so much for the reply, Grace. So this thing could have been dormant for awhile and the blood test didn't show it? OK...I guess I'll notify everyone I've had sex with in the past 35 years, just to be sure! :o) *sigh*
Not everyone will test accurately with the blood tests. You had a + lesion culture so you know you have hsv2. No way to tell when you acquired it though.
Really no need for any further testing for herpes.
