HSV 2 results, can it be a false positive after a year lapse?

Hi,

In 2012 I got tested for herpes 1 & 2. My score was 1.37 IGG yet I was not told of this result. A year passed and I was told at a yearly physical, one month ago. I had a recent confirmation test and the result increased to 2.33. I've been through all the depression I've read on fellow posts..could it still be a false positive even though there has been an increase after a whole year? I'm going to take a western blot test asap. Thanks for your time

Thanks for your quick reply! I'm not sure which test I had done but it was hsv2 specific and I was told of the results after 3 days.

I wanted some insight into whether the fact that there has been an increase over a year, rules out the possibility of the false positive? I probably won't know the results of the western blot for another month since my gynecologist has not ordered it yet. i just was hoping for some info to hold me over till I know those results. And if its still realistic to hope for a false positive in my case..

I have not come across a post with the same time lapse dilemma so I thought it was worth asking.

Hi, well there was an increase but still falls into the false positive range. The western blot will confirm but also you can do the biokit which is fast and is hsv2 specific.
