need help

Hello everyone,
I really need your help as I'm very confused at the moment. I gave oral sex to a man over 3 months ago now and 2 days after the encounter I had a large ulcer/sore on my tongue. I had a very stiff neck and back too, and then when I look back I think I had what might have been a herpetic whitlow on my finger. I am incredibly scared I have managed to spread it to my genitals as I have been experiencing some symptoms down there, like tingling, itching and sharp pains from time to time. I had a hepres blood test at 8 weeks and then at 12 weeks (herpes liaison type specific HSV2 IGG) which both came back negative.
But I had what I think was an outbreak at 10 weeks (red bumps on my vagina) in the pubic hair region, and it was sensitive and there was discharge too.
Now for the past 6 days I have been having what I believe to be prodrome-itching, lots of tingling, sharp pains.

Would I have developed detectable antibodies to hsv2 by 12 weeks? Also the test showed that my numbers had stayed relatively the same from 8 weeks to 12 weeks, 0.14 and then 0.18.
How reliable is the herpes liaison hsv2 IGG test?
and I've been told by a volunteer at a sti hotline that autoinnoculation is highly unlikely as my body would have started to develop antibodies within a day or so to stop the virus from being able to spread from one part of my body to another. I'm just scared that I've managed to pass it on as I have been experiencing these symptoms and because I think what I had was a whitlow it would have been relatively easy for me to pass it on to my genitals.

Please help me, I feel as if I'm going out of my mind.

I'm going to try and test again at week 16, but I am just feeling incredibly down at the moment because if I have got it it's my fault as I managed to pass it on to myself.

Hello,
so some of these symptoms are still going on, the herpes virus association here in the UK says that once herpes effects a certain site it's highly unlikely it will effect another, and then my blood test results are due Tuesday, any words of wisom to calm me down from all this herpes anxiety, it's getting me down so much at the moment.

correct, you won't walk around for a week feeling this way from herpes.

find a better provider who is willing to work to find out what is really going on with you!

Hello,
No they didn't. Can you test the skin when you have the prodrome symptoms even if there are no blisters present?
also the prodrome of the most recent outbreak has lasted 8 days, I thought normally it was only about 2 days?

Thanks for all your help!

did they even culture your symptoms?

I agree, sounds like this person was not acting in your best interest and only further added to your anxiety :(

Hello, and thanks so much for answering, I feel really stuck at the moment as the man in the clinic wasn't helpful at all. I've been experiencing these strange 'prodrome' symtpoms for a week now, is this normal?I stopped the antivirals as I had some pretty bad side effects. These 'prodromes' have happened 3 times now during January and they all last a month, I didn't even think you could get so many outbreaks within one month. My results come back next week so we will have to wait till then, in the meantime I might re-try the antivirals to see if it has any effect.
Although I know autoinnoculation is rare, as it was on my finger I just guess it would have been easier. The boy is denying that he has herpes, but I am not so sure, seems strange I have all these symtpoms.

Thanks so much for your help.

Putting you on an antiviral despite testing negative at 12 weeks is a little strange although not unheard of. Did he perform a visual examination or swab? Your symptoms sound more bacterial than herpes related especially considering that you've tested negative at twelve weeks.

The STD hotline you contacted is highly accurate in regards to autoinnoculation because it really is extremely rare. In most, if not all cases, the only time you're at risk for autoinnoculation is during your primary outbreak, and even then, the risk is low.

Hello Grace, so I went to the clinic and they said it sounds like herpes and have put me on vaciclyvoir ~(I think that's how you spell it ) as a trial run. He just said it probably was a whitlow and that's how I managed to spread it to myself. I've had another blood test done now at the 16 week mark, so we'll see what that says. Can't believe this has happened.

I've never had whitlow but I've been told that it hurts like a s.o.b.

odds are your ulcer in your mouth was just a canker sore from the irritation of performing oral.

really, don't think the worst :)

Hello, and thanks for the quick reply. Although I know autoinnoculation rarely happens, I'm pretty sure I've been one of the unlucky ones and done it. I will go and get any symptoms tested if I have any. Just a quick question, can prodrome symtpoms last for 5 days? Also it says on many herpes websites that the 1st outbreak is the most uncomfortable, however if these symptoms I've been having are the prodrome symptoms i.e a recurrence, they're far worse than any 'primary' attack I may have missed. I'm trying not to allow myself to fear the worst, however I'm trying to get myself into accepting that I have it, it's just too coincidental otherwise.

Thanks for any help in advance, your work on these forums is much appreciated.

your symptoms don't really sound like herpes going on and testing negative 3 months post encounter is also a sign that it probably isn't either.  don't allow yourself to fear the worse and go around thinking that you have to have herpes!!!

if your symptoms return, be seen promptly for a proper exam.

Dear Grace,
Thanks so much for replying. No they symtpoms have now gone so I´m not able to. Unfortunately I know it is though, I´ve had all the symptoms that describe it, I just wanted to ask about the amount of people who would have seroconverted by the week 12 mark?and whether you know anything about this herpes liaison test with regards to its accuracy and everything.

Thanks so much for your help at this stressful time in my life.

were you seen yet for your current symptoms? did they examine you and do any testing for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally?  do you shave your pubic hair?
