you can contract herpes from naked outercourse but the risk of such is very low.
I meant dec15-18 2012 not 2011
Is it possible the other guy could have given it to me?
I am experiencing the same thing...only I have been married 32 years, with sex with my husband only. He was recently caught in an affair, but we decided to try again. I was tested....HSV2 positive. His tests came back negative. I don't understand it, first because he was unfaithful...and how I could have carried it for over 32 years and not given it to him. I need answers as well. I have had no symptoms, except in the past six months I have had two serious UTIs with blood and clots in urine. He has had a UTI as well. I just don't understand.
odds are you weren't tested for herpes 13+ years ago. if you were, odds are it wasn't type specific testing you had done.
you aren't going to be able to tell the exact when and from whom at this point. your husband is testing negative so you know you didn't contract it from him.
yes I had sexually partners prior to my husband, but thought I tested negative to all sexual std's since I always asked every year to be tested until I got married 13 yrs ago. I only tested when I thought my husband was unfaithful which was twice. Now my healthcare provider is telling me that they dont normally test for herpes in std testing. I'm confused I was exposed by the inmate who had a serious outbreak I touched the inmates open sores without knowing and a couple of days later I had burning, redness and a cluster of pus bumps, when I asked the PA to look at it he said it was a herpes cluster and that I had been exposed. I went for testing and it came back negative. That was in 1998. I've had a bump and a cold sore that caused me to get tested again in 2010 and was told I was neg now as they went back through my records I was pos for the HV1 and they lost the HSV2 results. Why is my husband not pos after all this time. During our break up I met a guy and we did heavy petting but never penetration in Dec 15-18, 2011 and again Jan 18, 2013 could I have been exposed by him?
did you have any sexual partners prior to your husband?
you didn't contract genital herpes from an inmate either unless you were naked with them having intimate contact.

I posted this in the wrong place I guess
Hello I've recently tested positive for the HSV2 virus. I got tested because my husband was tested and they said he might have been exposed and that I should get tested. After getting my results and showing his results, my dr. said he was actually neg and they don't know why they would have told him that. I tested a 5 so I went to his dr and got retested they confirmed he was neg he had a .90 we both tested pos for HSV1. After the retest found out today i've test pos again 5.17. I'm so confused my husband had affairs but I never had contact with anyone in the last 13 yrs when got married. How could he be neg and I be pos. My dr. confused me saying it could have been dormant for a long time in my system. I'm upset with my dr. because I asked to be tested specifically in 2010 for herpes because of a bump on the genitals she looked at it and said it was an ingrown hair took cultures and later told me my test were ok. Now after going through my medical records and trying to trace my exposure, I found out they never had my test results for HSV 2 but I tested pos for HSV1 and was never told. I went back to the lab to see if they had the results and said it was longer than a yr and they wouldnt have the results. What should I do I've been reading the blogs abt false positives but my numbers seem quite high should I get the western block or should I accept the diagnosis? And please tell me how I can have it and my husband not? Does my high numbers mean a long or short term exposure?
