Htlv test

I had a negative htlv test at 11 months after oral sex risk with a guy I always known long and his grandparents were from Jamaica and I know that's where htlv is. Does anyone think it's conclusive I had weird signs ever since like a fever a lot and bruising. I get sick a lot too I'm real scared :(

Yes definitely. It would have come up positive by 3-6 months. So you really shouldn't worry. But you wanted to do the PCR so it is an extra test then you can forget about it. Ok?

Hey I can't find any place that does the pcr cause they don't perform it in a lot. I found people on the internet that gotten the pcr though so I'm stuck here. I really wanted the pcr got htlv to clear my head. The antibody don't satisfy me. I'm not sure what to do now.

I couldn't get the pcr done. It ain't performed in ny but there's  a certain code we have to change it to so that's what I'm going to do and take it in a few days so I will let you know in a few weeks to come what that test says.

Oh ok I forgot to ask the man who took my blood that's why. Is it good so far that the antibody one came out negative after a whole year so far?

It varies depending on the lab. It can be a day but sometimes they batch the tests and do them at the end of the week.

Yes a lot of people get a lot of colds. When  they say Immuno compromised they mean that you have no way to fight off infection so since you can fight off infection you are normal. Peole on chemotherapy can't fight infection. Also, those that get organ transplants because they are on special medication. Some people have very low white blood cells and can't attack the viruses or bacteria. So, no that is not your problem. HTLV gives you leukemia it is not like HIV. It makes you have a very very high white blood cell count 20,000 or 100,000 white blood cells and they are cancerous not normal. The lab would see them on a complete blood count. It is obvious. they look abnormal.  You would be very sick. So your fears are taking over here. But get the PCR if that makes you feel free of this and go on with your life. You may have some OCD that makes you obsess over things. So, take it easy and get it done then stop worrying.
take care,

By sick I mean I caught like a lot of colds and I had colds even while I was worried about this. If my body gets over a cold successful does that mean my body would of made antibodies to htlv?

Yeah I know. It's just before my risk I had I gotten sick a lot and everything and I had a skin problem does any of those problems sound like i have something wrong with my immune system that wouldn't let me make antibodies? Yes I think the pcr will clear my head completely and I'll be really happy.

No, once you make antibodies then you always make them. It doesn't go in reverse. If you are healthy and have a normal immune system then the antibodies form if you get a virus. So it would have showed up on the test you had. Does that make sense? But if you want to retest with PCR to make yourself feel better that is up to you. Hopefully, you will get closure after that. Temperature over 100.4 means you have a fever.

Do you think anything would make the antibodies stopping from forming and to be detected? I took the antibody one and I am going to get the pcr one tomorrow so I'm hoping that comes negative too. I didn't know temps go up in the afternoon.

No, I don't think it is a false negative. Also, 99.8 isn't really a fever, especially in the afternoon that is normal. Your temperature changes throughout the day. It isn't anything to worry about. Night sweats can be hormonal or due to many things.

I always had night sweats even before I went with him and been tired a lot. My temp in the afternoon was once 99.8 I'm really nervous. I think maybe it was a false negative

I think you are clear of HTLV. I think I wouldn't worry about HTLV. Have you traveled yourself to Jamaica? You may have some other type of virus not an STD. Or, do you have night sweats or cough and fatigue? How high is your fever? If it is 99 and you take it in the afternoon that could be normal. Do you take aspirin? Explain your other symptoms it may help.
