rabies risk

hello everybody. this might seem crazy, but... i cant stop thinking about it. there is dead fox (roadkill) on the road some 15 minutes to our house. My son touched tires of neighbours car accidentally with his jacket and backpack and clothes while getting out of our car, then ran away, and washed hands only later, when I caught him. Now I am afraid, there might be some remains of the fox on those tires and he might got infected. I asked neighbour about it. He drove that road, but doesnt remember if he drove over the roadkill or did avoid it. The fox was there for three days, when he drove through that road, and the car was parking some 18 hours since he got home from that trip. So if there are some pieces of that roadkill, then they are there for some 18 hours, while the roadkill previously was on the road for some two-three days. But it is pretty cold weather now (only around 40F during the day and freezing during night) and I googled the virus can live for a few days in these temperatures.. if there is anybody who can calm me down, I would be really deeply appreciate it! I also googled nobody ever got infected from roadkill or inanimate object this way but am really afraid.

Although foxes are rare carriers of rabies they can have it in some parts of the country. You can get rabies by getting saliva of the infected animal from the bite of the animal or getting the saliva in a open wound or rarely in the eyes nose or mouth of the person. So I don't think there is exposure to saliva here do you? But, you can ask your doctor to be sure. He is a link that might be helpful.

If there is any question about it see a doctor. They should decide.

You can get it from roadkill but usually this has been when kids were in a classroom and their teacher had dissected the animal and it sprayed around. So I'm just saying if you have a doubt you should see a doctor. let them make the decision. Hope these scenarios help.
