Questions about Epstein Barr

I am a 24 year old male, and in general good health. Recently I was feeling very fatigued, feverish and weak so I went to my doctor who diagnosed me with the Epstein Barr virus. I am a bit scared, I always eat right and exercise. What is this? I heard that you will always have it after this. Is it because I kissed someone? that's all I can think of here....I really hope this is not serious. Is this indicative of any other serious diseases or STD's??  Anyone if you have any info on this, please help...

Hi Oscar, you've asked a lot of questions that are pretty common here.  Your symptoms sound pretty typical for EBV, so there's not much cause for concern.  You may have gotten the virus from kissing, but it's a typical virus, so there are many other ways to acquire it as well.  It's true that once you're infected, the virus never leaves your body; this is common though, as about 90% of people have it by age 30.  Fortunately the symptoms should only be temporary.  However, I would suggest getting LOTS of rest, to help your body fight this more quickly.  Please browse around this forum, as most of your questions have probably been asked, and answered, before.  If you do have more questions though, feel free to ask.

EBVirus cause  latent infection of B-lymphocytes .
Syptoms are infectious mononucleosis, fever, malaise, tiredness, sore throat, generalized lymphadenopathy
All infected persons shed the virus from time to time in saliva. Its called reactivation. Infected person cantransmit virus by salivary contamination  hands or toys, sharing food. or even by KISSING!!!!!  Can tranmitt by Oral-oral sex......
Once got infected......  virus goes to latency period and can get reactivated especially when u undergo stressful conditions........ but reactivation is usually asymptomatic.....
It has a link to cancers sometimes.eg;Burkitts lymphoma ,nasopharyngeal carcinoma (this is not to complete this)
