my ankle is swollen and very painful.dr says it oestoarithis but pain killers he gave me done nothing antimflamatorys didnt work .it sometime feels like its a burnig sensation only lasts a few seconds .its turning my leg outwards ,have lost muscle in that leg .i am mentally feeling very upset atm .i cant get any relief .some one said it could b muscle damage as i have sprained it years ago .can u help me pls .raelene

thank u it was grt to hear back about  my ankle . i have been take all the things u said and nothing is working some one said it could b rikittesia in the muscle .

There are several conditions which can cause one sided ankle swelling. A traumatic injury or ankle sprain is common cause of ankle swelling and pain. Other causes are rheumatoid arthritis, gout, vascular obstruction etc.In osteoarthritis there are degenerative changes and damage to the articular cartilage. Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints.
