what is wrong with me

Just found out I have hpv...cervicitis...and just had a relapse of ebv. Been 3 months of hell what could be causing my body to all of a sudden be reactivating viruses? Hpv is new but I'm sure I was exposed 10 years ago and I got ebv when I was 15. My blood work was mostly normal  I have high ALT (SGPT) Levels at 40

I have high platelets 534

A high count for EBV which is mono. ENT wasn't concerned about anything else besides the mono.  But that it's not active anymore. Still have awful symptoms my throat hurts feeling sharp pains in my abdomen. I have a low risk strain of hpv everything came back normal with my biopsy and cocoscopy except that i have an inflamed cervix.  my symptoms won't stop! !! Feels  like even more is going on since it just seems like my body is pulsating diseases through my veins !!! It's awful. It hurts and it's uncomfortable.

Hi and sorry you are having these problems.  We are not doctors on here but I can give you advice. Low risk HPV doesn't cause cancer usually it can cause genital warts.  I wonder if you have an infection after the procedure. Have you gone back to the doctor since the procedure to see if they can tell you if you have a pelvic infection? You shouldn't have pain that long after that procedure. Also, you may want to get tested for hepatitis B and C just to rule it out since both your liver enzymes and platelet count are up. The SGPT isn't that high but it might be good to do if you have been at risk for either non protected sex or any other type of blood related exposure too. You probably don't have it going by your symptoms but just going by the small about of lab work you could check it just to see.

But, I would check out to make sure you don't have a pelvic infection. The EBV sounds like a past infection and going by your symptoms it doesn't sound recent and more likely the symptoms are related to the pelvic procedure. Are you having any discharge or urinary pain?

Symptoms of mono are a high fever, very sore throat and swollen lymph nodes under the neck. If you had past infection you can't get "mono" again. You can sometimes get reactivation of the virus but the symptoms are not generally what you are describing. Also, while you are at the doctor you can get your throat tested for strep. Is the throat really red? Any fever?

My gyno isn't a good dr. He told me nothing was wrong when I complained about having an infection.  I ended up testing positive for hpv and have an inflamed cervix. So I proved him wrong.  He won't treat me for my inflamed cervix either so I'm seeing a new dr. I'm itching feels like I'm being cut on my ovaries. I haven't broken out with warts or anything from what he said and from what the tests showed. But I know I have to have an infection if I'm feeling this way.  I am seeing a new Dr an infectious disease dr. I don't think I have hepatitis because the ENT that diagnosed me with EBV which is a relapse of mono wasn't conserned  about the levels.  But I'm still going to get further tests Just to be cautious.  It's just been awful I never slept around with that many ppl 9 my whole life I'm 28. I guess that's too many times For this all to me happening. I regret everything.  I'm just so miserable. I hope this goes away.

This is my original post explaining everything I found out January 13th that I have a low risk hpv strain along with abdormal cells which was shown in my pap test. I believe i contracted it 10 years ago by one of my big mistakes. I've only been with a few people in my life as I've never been the type to really want to sleep around.  Lets just say I'm in misery although I've had the colcospocy and biopsy with dna test everything came back normal except that I had mild cervicitis which my gyno said it would go away on its own. Thankfully I tested negative for all high risk strains and I have not broken out with anything.  I received the vaccine last year. It's been 2 months and I've been in hell feeling like there is an infection throughout my body I developed walking pneumonia been sick on and off ever since.  I'm getting further testing done I by an ent  was just tested last year and everything was normal and I've been with the same guy for a few years now previous relationship was 10 years. I've had low grade fever on and off since December been having cramps and lower back pain. My throat has a weird burning feeling on and off i had a scope done on my throat everything came back normal .i had a cold sore and I have a  mild cough. I had experienced night sweats and I felt fatigued. I'm praying I'm ok as I've never been sick like this.  I've developed heartburn but that's gone away since I've been taking probiotics. I'm just scared. I'm sure there are more symptoms I'm forgetting. I just don't know what is wrong or if it's the hpv.

Sorry I'm posting so much but since I've been on prednisone a lot of my symptoms have gone away.  I'm no longer having night sweats. My lymph nodes hurt under my neck and arms left side of my throat hurts if I move around too much I develop a headache and low grade fever.  I get small cuts on my lip as I had a cold sore outbreak I'm the beginning.  I know once I stop the prednisone it's all going to come back.  I'm constantly feeling something spreading and I am itching downstairs a little bit and the cramps hurt. I know I have an infection which is causing my cervix to be inflamed but again the gyno that I'm seeing doesn't care. I'm getting a CT scan tomorrow morning the ENT is checking to make sure I don't have a chronic infection in my throat and Nasal passages. So wish me luck.  I I'm engaged trying to get married and start a family soon and this has just delayed everything.  It's been a nightmare

Hi, and sorry you are going through all this. At your age HPV usually clears on its own. So unless you have another abnormal PAP smear you don't need to do anything. I am just concerned you may have pelvic inflammatory disease. I certainly was not implying that you "sleep" around or anything like that. I hope you didn't think I meant that. About half of women in their twenties are positive for high risk HPV and they clear it on their own with their immune system. Their cells just automatically rejuvinate and clear it away.  But that why we get PAP smears to check for abnormal cells. Yes I wouldn't go back to the same OBGYN. If you have to go to another doctor see someone else. But you can get bacteria that can cause pelvic inflammatory disease and so I thought perhaps you should checked. Your symptoms sounded like you might have that or an infection from the procedure.  Prednisone will lower your immune system and make you more susceptible to infections. But it does lower inflammation. So if you are on a shot or pills you will have to taper off of them slowly. I 'm sure they must have told you that. Most people by the time they are adults are postiive for EBV. Most people (95%) have Herpes type 1 (cold sores). So we are all in the same boat there. I try to use acyclovir cream to put on the lip area as soon as I feel a tingle or pain before it breaks out or if you notice anything at all. it will kill the Herpes a lot faster if you catch it sooner. If you get genital herpes type 1 or even for the oral herpes you can take the pills instead but you have to take them on day 1 or 2 of the outbreak or it won't work.

Has the ENT checked for strep throat?  I wonder if you have acid reflux. Did they see that with your throat scan before? That could cause erosion. So I hope they can figure out what is going on with the throat.

You may be getting yeast infection if you are getting itchy down below. You can try a 3 day OTC prep if you feel you think you have yeast. You don't have any burning with urination right?

I will keep positive thoughts for you. Congratulations on your engagement!

take care,
mkh9

Thank you so much.  No I'm not offended with anything that you said at all. I'm so thankful that you're replying at all. I have cervicitis. They didn't say PID. I'm going to make a new appointment with a different gyno. I do have acid reflux I'm taking new meds for it.  I just saw the ENT again he's prescribing an antiviral supplement that I'm going to pick up.  I pray that when I see the new gyno that I don't find out that I have PID. My lab results said cervicitis and that can definitely lead to PID if left untreated.  That can't happen because I want a baby with my husband.  I just want to be well its so hard to see these Dr when I have to work and all the money it's costing.   I just want to be well again.

Yes I see. I hope that is all it is then. When you said sharp pains in the abdomen I got worried about you having an infection. Another question then, do you have any pain where the appendix would be? The lower right side about 2 inches below the belly button? Or where is your pain? Hopefully, it will be cleared up soon. It would be good to get a second opinion with a different gynecologist and since you need to find one you like for having children it would good to get used to a new one anyway. I hope things go well for you. Glad the lab results said cervicitis. It just seems like a long time.

Ya know reading the symptoms I'm starting to think it's PID. I haven't broken out so I don't understand why I would have it.  But I have all the symptoms.  This is upsetting this Dr is terrible. 3 months I've been suffering and it's got to be it.  New Dr Thursday I just hope the damage isn't done

You will be okay if you have it. They may do a culture and treat you with antibiotics if you have it. But hopefully you don't. It would be good to confirm that everything is okay.  It may be intestinal not PID too. They can figure it out.
take care and let me know how it goes.

I'm starting to think the abnormal cells on my cervix caused by the hpv virus is causing my cervix to be inflamed. I don't know. I hope this infectious disease Dr can give me more answers. I read it can take 2 years for hpv to go back to being dormant or it won't at all.

Yes low risk HPV is just genital warts. I don't think it causes cervicitis or haven't heard that it does but not certain. So, good to get the other opinion to see if there was any other reason. These STD's can cause cervicitis.

    Gonorrhea.
    Chlamydia.
    Genital herpes.
    Trichomoniasis.
    Mycoplasma and ureaplasma.

Also, bacterial vaginosis or BV which can be caused by douching or anything that disrupts the vaginal flora and changes the Ph like washing with soap inside the vagina. You should not wash the inside of the vagina with anything it cleans itself, only the outside. This could be the case because you felt a bit of yeast or itching.

According to the Mayo Clinic
"An allergy, either to contraceptive spermicides or to latex in condoms, may lead to cervicitis. A reaction to feminine hygiene products, such as douches or feminine deodorants, also can cause cervicitis"

It doesn't quite explain your pain though. So we'll see.

So, That is all I can think of at this point. Let me know how the appointment goes.

Take care,

Ugh that's so gross Genital Warts. Well luckily I haven't broken out as far as what the tests show and what the Dr said.  All results show that I have no infection just cervicitis. But what's causing it? ? I think it has to be PID or its just the abnormal cells on my cervix.... so. ... I don't know I see an infectious disease Dr on Tuesday.

Did the biopsy say there were abnormal cells?
I don't know. It can be any of the things I listed in the last message. If you don't think you could have an STD then it could be bacterial vaginosis which is due to a bacteria called Garderella vaginalis that takes over when your Ph gets off due to the things I mentioned. You can get treated for that. They can see if by a few tests. Allergies are hard to know. Have you tried anything different since you got this in the last 3 months? New products, new Intimate jelly, condoms with any scent, or flavor (sorry to be open) but some people like these things. You never know what you might be allergic to. So the point is to think back if there is anything new. If you can't figure it out. Do you douche or use soap up the vagina. If so you should stop and not wash inside only outside. Lots of things can unbalance the vaginal bacteria.  You don't have to answer any of this just think about it.

Sometimes you don't see or get genital warts with low risk HPV even if you have the virus. So that is good. But that is what the low risk types can cause.

But they can also do some tests to look for PID. So we'll see what the doctor says. I hope not and it is very treatable with antibiotics as well.

You will get better. I think you still have some kind of infection. So it is good you are going in. I don't know if you really had EBV relapse. So, hope it passes soon.

It took 10 years for hpv to show up.  I thought I had been exposed when I was 19 or 20? I've been living in hell for years Dr's telling me every year that I'm clean to find out I have it.  It's just so devastating.

Tested negative for EVERYTHING. All I have is hpv  but I'm so much happier just having that than everything else. I might have Vulvodinia which is chronic inflammation of the cervix without a cause.

Did they do any cultures or PCR (molecular tests) of the areas? Or did they just look in there? Is your pain gone?  I hope it is all okay.

They gave me a medication an antibiotic to use for 5 days in case I got an infection from the colcoscopy/biopsy. All the results came back negative they said if the meds don't help then I need to follow up with a different specialist. So in 5 days we will see. I'm not as worried as I was I'm thankful it's not way worse. I'll let you know :0)
