Morning rush!

I’ve had what doctors call IBS for years now. In fact doctors aren’t even sure it’s IBS. They say some symptoms are related. However, reading online about IBS, I’m convinced that it is the case. All other symptoms aside, one thing I’ve noticed recently is that as soon as I wake up, within the first two hours I get this urge to pass stool. Obviously that comes with its own problems but the more surprising symptom I’m noticing is the mental connection. I feel anxious, irritated and lethargic. But as soon as I pass stool, everything calms down. It’s like somebody’s flicks a switch! I know that the gut and the brain are related somehow but what is exactly is going on here? And how am I supposed to cure this?

Btw, I’ve just now heard about the gluten free diet and I’m trying to shift towards it. Anyone here who can give some guidance on whether it actually works? I definitely can use some help.

Thanks!

I have the same thing and I feel agitated and uncomfortable until I pass it. I hate the feeling and waiting but there's no way around it. I do fine that drinking lots of water and eating papaya every day helps keep things moving. I also have stayed away from gluten and that changed my IBS life in so many positive ways. Now I am basically incapacitated if I get gluten into my system so I know that's a big factor in my IBS

I'd go online and watch videos about the low FODMAP diet. It helps immensely with my symptoms until I stray from it. I would say to consult with a naturopath or a diet professional after a week or two of the diet, you shouldn't have to be on it forever but it's a good start to calming things down.
