Don't know if i have IBD

I have been suffering with diarrhea, stomach cramps, abdominal pain, pains in my joints, pains at the back of my head, fatigue, weight loss or loss of apitite for the last few months.

This all happened after i was in the D.R.C and got ecoli, typhoid, ameoebis. i was cleared of all that,  was still suffering so had an operation on my heitus hernia, but i still have the sypmtoms.

Could i have gotten IBD from all the diseases I had? If not IBD, what could it be? the doctors i have been to have no clue.

You may still have inflammation and low grade infection (undetected by standard serum tests when it is in the tissues) and there's a good chance that you may also have Gut Dysbiosis or Leaky Gut Syndrome, a condition with increased permeability of the intestinal mucosa ( you need a PEG or mannitol and lactulose urine test to verify this), allowing bacteria, toxins and food to leak into the bloodstream and cause systemic symptoms (anywhere in the body).

Unfortunately this is NOT an established diagnosis in Gastro-enterology (why not???),
so you may have to see a Holistic or Naturopathic Doctor for this, if your own Doctor is not co-operative.

For the time being look into demulcent herbs, which help soothe and protect irritated or inflamed tissues.

Note that the above is not intended to replace medical advice.

Best wishes.

Hi, your symptoms could be due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), malabsorption, inflammatory bowel diseases and various infections of the colon.  Blood tests will help detect infections, besides stool examination which will reveal fat malabsorption.  Colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy are procedures which are used to study the whole colon for infections and inflammations. Bacterial overgrowth is tested with a breath test. Please discuss these issues with your primary care physician when you happen to meet him. Regards.
