Help me understand my kidneys better.

So this is how I found out about my kidneys. Signed up to go serve in the army. Get all the paperwork done pass my asvab test. Wanted to start off my first couple of years with the MOS 11x infratry. The day comes we all go up to MEPS. Do some standard test get through about 75% of it. Time to pee in a cup check for drugs and the pH level. Pass the drug test and failed the pH level. Get sent home schedule to go again in 2 weeks go straight to pee again failed again. Alright they tell me something is wrong. I go to a kidney doctor end up doing a kidney biopsy get the results a week or so. I get diagnosed with proteinuria. Get scheduled to go to MEPS again to see if they will give me a waiver. Nope won't even do that. Well I'm peeing out 2-3 times as much protein as an average human. Well started about a year ago I'll get random sharp pains in the kidney area about 3-4 times a month only last for about 20 minutes each time. Is this something I should be concerned about. Is it minor or major?
