is this liver disease

I had my gall bladder removed 4 years ago which had given me pain for at least 2 years it was badly infected and fused to my liver the surgeon said it was one of the worst he'd seen and couldn't believe I hadn't ended up in A&E much more with the pain (I think I have a high pain threshold), since then I have had bouts of mild pain almost like indigestion in the centre of my upper stomach but nothing that worried me until last week when I felt ill for a few days and suddenly vomited repeatedly and got excrutiating pain in my upper stomach to the point I almost passed out, I went to A&E and was given morphine and blood tests which came back with elevated liver enzymes and a high white blood cell count, as soon as the pain subsided I was sent home and told to go and see my GP, he has taken more blood samples and told me to come back to him in 2 weeks time, I'm worried sick what this could be, I did ask my doctor if it could be something serious and he just said lets hope not, other than the mild pain in upper stomach and nausea I have no other symptoms, has anyone any ideas. By the way I am 35, female, normal weight, I do smoke but only drink very occasionally (every 6mths maybe) my only other illness was a hysterectomy 8 years ago due to a benign tumour, about 3 days before I fell ill I did have a drink of 3 vodka and cokes and wonder if it's just something as simple as intollerance to alcohol, has anyone has anything similar as everything i've looked at and it's symptoms on the internet don't explain the excrutiating pain I felt that night.

Many thanks for your comments, I returned to my doctor this morning as I had another "attack" last night, they feel exactly the same as when I had attacks with my gall bladder, severe pain for 4 to 8 hours, vomiting, dizziness and generally feeling ill,I didn't got to A&E this time just dosed up on tramadol as I knew the pain would pass eventually and am beginning to feel like a hypachondriac, my doctor had my blood tests back and said everything is normal except high ALT levels and slightly raised AST levels, WBC back to normal, as i'm still having the aching pain and nausea he's referred me for a ultrasound scan which hopefully will be in the next couple of weeks but told me the blood tests are nothing to worry about as I don't have jaundice, when I asked about the possibility of a stone in my bile duct he dismissed it saying the blood tests don't say so, i'm worried that the scan won't show anything as when I had attacks with my gall bladder I had a CT scan which showed no stones lodged in my bile duct or infection but when I had the surgery 3 weeks later there were stones lodged and my gall bladder was badly infected and fused to my liver, I guess it's just a case of more waiting and seeing what comes up next, but thanks for your reply

The drinks you had can make your liver enzymes slightly elevated. You have me wondering what the results actually read. The return visit in two weeks will warrant another lab test to see if your enzymes have returned to normal. Your doctor will decide from there if further testing is necessary such as a CT scan or ultra sound of the abdominal region. Your doctor will provide you with a copy of your lab results free of charge if you ask. Take it home and place it in a folder. Do this each time you have lab testing so that you may personally compare your results. You will find this very useful if any problems arise.

The endoscopy not only was used to look for ulcers but to look for esophageal varices which would indicate portal hypertension (a common problem for people with liver disease).

I know the waiting is rough, I’ve had to go through it as well. I post quite often here on MedHelp and two of the biggest problems  I come across are that many people are not openly honest with their doctors or they do things different from their normal life style to prepare for their testing. This will lead to inaccurate results and/or make things much more difficult for your doctor to help you. The last thing is many people leave the doctor’s office without much of a clue as to what their doctor has told them. It is your health and I’m sure your doctor wouldn't mind helping you get a better understanding. Your situation is different since at this point there isn’t much known yet.

Thanks for your reply, i've looked at symptoms for the bone marrow thing and they don't seem to add up and i've also had an endoscopy to look for ulcers and there isn't any, in the past 2 days I have also developed an aching pain under my ribs on my right side and itching but not in one place as soon as i itch 1 place another itches although overall i've started to feel much better in myself which could be down to the meds my doctors put me on, I don't drink that often like I said i'll probably have a drink maybe once every 6 months if that but i did have a heavy cold around 6 weeks ago could this be the reason for the high WBC and having a drink a few days before I fell ill be the reason for the high enzymes do you think, or am i just clutching at straws

A high white blood cell count usually indicates:

    An increased production of white blood cells to fight an infection
    A reaction to a drug that enhances white blood cell production
    A disease of bone marrow, causing abnormally high production of white blood cells
    An immune system disorder that increases white blood cell production

I do know that alcohol and smoking increase risks for ulcers and pancreatitis.
