Thank you SO MUCH Jackie. I am feeling sooo needy lately for any confirmation that this is indeed lyme that I'm feeling in my body. Thank you.
I'm going to read the link you sent later today when I'm back at the office.
Have a good day.
....and remember, HNK CD57 is not affected in MS, from what Savely says.
Hiya!
I think you might like to read Savely's article. It's quite short, about one page, but packs in a lot of accessible information. As usual, take all the spaces out of the following and replace the [dot] with just a period:
www. publichealthalert. org / Articles / gingersavely/ everything % 20 you % 20 always % 20wanted [dot] html
I don't know Savely, but she's pretty well established in the Lyme world, as far as I know.
In particular I think you'll find interesting one sentence where she says that while 60-360 has been set for 'normal' results, she personally thinks the lower cut off should be more like 100. Sounds like she's talking about you, girlfriend.
And I have to tell you, I'm guessing you have one heck of a strong immune system, given how much buzzing around you do, based on your posts about shopping for wedding dresses and setting up Rife machines and so on. That's a LOT more energy than I could expend for a very long time. So if your immune system is holding off the bugz, then that might also mean your CD57 natural killer cells are warriors for the bugs to reckon with.
So your CD57 is on low (esp acc to Savely), meaning you're ill, and at the same time your body sounds to be putting up a good battle, and that takes a healthy immune system. I'm not medically trained, so I dunno really, but it seems logical that for you, 100 CD57 is indeed low. If that makes sense. Just a thought.
Hi jackie
My cd57 level was at 100 and that was taken before I started on abc. This is part of my worry because I would have thought it would be lower. I have read that people with ms have normal or unaffected cd57 levels. It seems like a lot of weight is with Lyme is based on these cd57 levels and I'm testing in normal/low range. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you!
The reason I ask is that I was reading something today about CD57 written by a knowledgeable Lyme medical person, and it pointed out something I didn't clearly remember: CD57 is a kind of natural killer cell that is associated with Lyme infection and NOT with MS, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Partial quote:
"A below-normal count has been associated with chronic Lyme disease by the work of Drs. Raphael Stricker and Edward Winger. No one knows for sure why CD57+ NK cells are low in Lyme disease patients, but it is important to note that many disease states that are often confused with chronic Lyme (MS, systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis) are not associated with low CD57+ NK counts. The good news is that for most Lyme patients the CD57+ NK level increases as treatment progresses and health is regained."
I read that to mean that if your CD57 NK cells are low, it's likely not MS. I think your doc tested you for CD57 NK, yes?
I forget, what was your CD57 level?
