extratest

I am 42 and had a complete hysterecomy including my ovary that was still left.  I was fine at first with just hot flashes and night sweats that make it not so easy to get alot of sleep. I can live with all that but I have a wonderful boyfriend who has been by my side...the extra 8 day stay 3 days after getting home from surgery to another pelvic abcess..I also got one when I had my appendix removed a few years ago.  I have no desire for sex nor cuddling nor kissing, I dont want anything to do with that part.  I finally went to a dr who prescribed estratest full strength.  Its only been 12 days and so far nothing has changed, still sweating and flashing and still no desire. I really just dont care about anything. I dont want to be around others, I used to exercise everyday for a good hour and now I have no desire to that either. I just dont care about anything really.  I really dont want to be this way. What else can I do.

I just googled the words, ****Estratest bioidentical synthetic*** and found a ton of information that you may find very helpful. What  you are on is a synthetic oral combination of more synthetic products that most likely are suboptimal for what you need. Sounds like you have classic symptoms of surgical menopause... no fun at all. You can get the help you deserve, but you will have to advocate for yourself and do a bit more research.

I had a total hysterectomy in 2000 and if I can share anything about my journey it is that there is hope. To date, the best advice I got has come from the book that I have mentioned several (or more :) times in my more recent posts (dating from April or May of '08 to now) as well as in one of my journals on Hormones. Actually, any of the books by Dr. Elizabeth Vliet have been helpful. If you click on my screen name, you will find my information.

Take care and I hope things improve rapidly for you.

Hi Kryssy,

I've heard many women say that maca root es excellent for restoring libido in both men and women. Haven't used it myself, but if I ever had problems in that area, that would definitely be the first thing I would try.

As far as safety goes, maca has been used as a staple food (like rice, potatoes, corn etc) in the high Andes of Peru and Bolivia, and it is till widely used, as it is one of the few crops that will grow in the high altitudes and harsh conditions of that region.

You may want to do a bit of research, and ask your doctor about it.

Good luck!
