I am about to turn 51,I had a full hysterectomy about 18 yrs ago and I'm going through something, just not sure what it is.I have never taken hormones.I'm having night sweats really bad, crazy weird nightmares causing bad headaches but I have a drama free, stress free life.I normally don't dream.I'm just feeling very strange.Someone please help if you think this might be what it is.
yes you can and I am suffering through this right now.My doctor said that although the ovaries are gone they have found evidence in the medical community that there is a place in the brain and the name eludes me I think he said hypothalamus,or maybe the hypothalamus in any case these hormones want to take over and send us into a second menopause. I really hope this helps someone get the treatment they need. thank you Laura
Menopause is usually diagnosed "after the fact," when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months. However, since you had a hysterectomy 20 years ago, this is not an option. Instead, a blood test known as a follicle stimulating hormone (or FSH) test may be used in conjunction with your symptoms to better assess whether you are transitioning into menopause. That said, there might be other reasons for hot flashes and night sweats and it's best to speak with your personal physician.
