Hey,this is the most common cause of blood in the semen. Blood can come from an infection or inflammation, in any of the glands, tubes, or ducts that produce and move semen from the body. These are some semen fact :
Blood in the semen is known as hematospermia.
Prostate biopsy is the most common cause of blood in the semen.
Blood in the semen can be caused by tumors, infections, anatomical abnormalities, stones, or inflammation in many sites throughout the genitourinary system.
Usually blood in the semen is benign and resolves on its own.
Treatment, if indicated, depends upon the underlying cause.
In most cases, hematospermia has no underlying cause, is benign, self-limited, and no treatment is required.
so consult the doctor .
Thank You
Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. I'm glad you are working with your doctor on this matter as that is always best. Have you had a follow up as of yet to discuss your test findings?
We appreciate the information that is shared by kkristy and just want to add to that. What is your age? That is meaningful in evaluation as being 40 or under is when this more commonly occurs and when it typically goes away with no treatment. We do agree that seeing blood at these times is always disconcerting and provokes anxiety. But most often, in this age group, it is not a major health concern.

If you are over 40, then it often will need to be treated. As mentioned, infection is a leading cause of blood in semen as is trauma.
It looks like from the information you have provided that you have some issues going on that does explain the blood in semen. Has your doctor said this to you and does he have any recommendations for treatment?
