Anyway, I will give a little update about myself. I ended up having some pretty severe anxiety over the whole deal, and had a lot of other issues pop up. It is hard to say what were actual symptoms and what were just brought on by anxiety, but what started as a vibrating sensation in the penis migrated to various vibrating sensations throughout the pelvic floor, down the legs, in the feet, and less often, in my hands and face. Several primary care, urology, ENT, and neurology visits, an ultra sound, a cystoscopy, a CTScan, and 2 MRIs revealed nothing abnormal. I had some digestive problems that had been coming on slowly the whole time, to the point where i was having loose stools/diarrhea for 2 months straight (3 1/2 months off and on). I seriously thought I was dying of something - even lost 20 pounds throughout the ordeal. Also had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to see if we could find out what was going with my digestion. Still nothing. Along the way, I had been prescribed various antibiotics, antifungals, and muscle relaxers - all as a precaution, not the result of any clinical findings, and all ineffective. Also was prescribed anti-anxiety (Lexapro) and Nexium (they found some GERD-related esophogitis). The last two seem to be making a difference.
For the past several weeks I have been feeling much better. I have not felt the original obvious buzzing in over 2 months. But I do occassionally feel very slight remnants, although it is usually so slight that I cannot tell if I am really experiencing it. Truly, whatever buzzing I feel now may have been there all along, but I just never noticed until the flare up a few months ago that made me hyper-sensitive to it.
I noticed awhile back that heavy lifting did seem to have an effect, but it hasn't been the case lately. I did some heavy lifting a couple times over the last two weeks, and it has not had any obvious effect. Working out also used to trigger the buzzing, but has not lately.
Despite all my efforts, no breakthrough here, but at least I am content for now. Before my symptoms exploded and eventually resolved, I was leaning towards this being a manifestation of Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, Pudendal Nerve Entrapment or something like that. But since I have improved, I am just trying not to think about it much. So good luck with everything. Keep us posted, and I will try to do the same :)
