Didn't your read all my posts? I have said that there are products that are available for you to purchase without a prescription and that the pharmacist will be able to assist you if you tell him what it is for.
The antiperspirant called Odaban will stop sweating, but as your skin isn't healed, I would advise you to use it. I wouldn't use it on the genitals either, but it would be OK on the inner thighs. I have used it in the past when I was much younger and it didn't half sting. Not all pharmacy and chemist shops stock it and I purchase mine off the web.
Haha no I just meant that during the day I can't shower or change underwear. The camp runs from 8-4 so that is the time I will be sweaty and unable to do anything. I will still be showering everyday and changing underpants along with wearing the cotton ones under my compression. Unfortunately I am not able to get into the doctor's before I leave. Is there an over the counter moisturizer I could get?
Unfortunately, through personal experience, once you get this sort of thing, it can come back again. So you have to make sure it doesn't return, by good hygiene and using the appropriate creams to protect the skin.
Can't you wear cotton underpants with the compression pants on top?
I cannot believe that you can't shower or change into clean underwear for 4 days! If you are not able to shower, take some flannels, dampen them and wipe yourself with the damp flannel, then get a dry one and wipe with the dry one. You will definitely need a moisturising emollient to keep the oils locked in and for the sweating not to rub and chaff.
So is your doctor's appointment booked for you to see him before you go for hockey camp, or after? You could do with seeing the doctor before you go to camp so that you can ask the doctor about avoiding getting this condition again - hopefully he will give a prescription for one of the better emollients or a protective barrier cream.
It just set in with me that I have a big problem now, starting in less that a week if will be in a hockey camp which will involve wearing tight clothing and lots of sweating along with not being able to shower or change underwear from 8 am-5pm for 4 days. Am I completely screwed and now I guess "destined" to have this condition come back to full force?
Well, sorry to tell you, but you should not masturbate until you are completely healed.
I am pleased for you that you have a cream that is working. I think had you left it to get much worse, it would have taken a longer time to get the issue under control and for it to heal.
My problem was on my inner thighs. I didn't seek medical help soon enough because I thought it would go away with the previous medications the doc gave me. And if I did not apply the moisture cream, it was very sore and painful and the Emollin spray helped a lot; the spray is very fine and because it is a spray, it can reach places that the hands can't.
With the medication that you have, it is helping to get the inflammation down and because there is already an improvement, it sounds very promising that it will heal. But how quickly that remains to be seen. Everyone is different and people who have diabetes their skin problems take much longer to heal.
Just ask one of your parents to buy you a small tub of the emollient. There are different ones available and you can ask the pharmacist for advice and help.
The ones that I know about are DoubleBase, Diprrobase, Dermol 400, Dermol 600 is an antimicrobial with oils for use to soak in the bath.
The spray oil which comes in a canister is Emmolin (this is not used for washing with).
I have copied and pasted the link below so that you can read up on the different types of emollients and what they are used for and how to use them. The link does not name any products. The ones I mentioned above are fine to use on the genitals.

When you start back to your gym work, and your skin has healed from what you have now, it would be a good idea to put a protective layer of an emollient on the skin to avoid getting this condition again. It is not very pleasant. It took 6 months to get my condition healed up, it spread down the whole inner thighs.
Hope this helps you.
Also, will the dry skin healing its own?
It is incredible how effective this cream has been after just one application last night (following careful instruction with regard to the amount applied of course). My inflammation and redness have gone down tremendously. Very happy I consulted my parents about the issue. Is there anything I can do to fix the tight skin problem? With the location of it and how tight it is I am currently unable to, well, do what guys love most to do when they're alone haha and it would really benefit me to fix this problem asap
This one with aloe vera is for sensitive skin, so you should be fine with it. Is this what the doctor told you to get? Doctors usually start patients off on a lower dose to see if this works. If you did not get an information leaflet with it, you can check it out on the web.
Your condition has not cleared up, but the cream seems to be working for you, so you still need to use the cream.
Don't stop using it until all the skin condition is completely clear or unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Of course, if there had been any side effects, you would always stop any medications straight away and contact your doctor.
No, it is not mandatory that you use an emollient or a genital moisturizer. Because you mentioned that the skin has been peeling, and also feels tight indicates that it needs moisturising.
This is why I have given you advice to not use any normal soaps, bath or shower gels - because they dry the skin and make it feel more uncomfortable. Having a condition like this sometimes can take a long time to heal. Unfortunately, it is something that you may experience again when you start to sweat a lot.
With the itching being completely eliminated, the cream seems to be working for you. Nothing worse than having an itch - and the thing is the more you scratch the more it itches, until you end up scratching yourself sore.
If you skin feels tight it can be lacking in natural oils and because of that the moisturising emollients (you can use these instead of soap or apply directly to the skin) or a moisturising antiseptic cream may be of benefit to you. You can leave things as they are and discuss this with your doctor if the skin continues to be tight and painful. If you feel you can't tolerate it, you can speak with the pharmacist for advice.
Don't touch or pull it, it will aggravate it and feel more sore.
I am sure your parents would want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. If you are not getting any relief within the next day or so, talk to one of your parents regarding getting an emollient for you to use instead of normal soap when you wash your private bits.
The itch associated with the rash has now been completely eliminated :). However the streaky type rash going down the bottom of my shaft feels fairly tight and can hurt by pulling it apart. It appears to be that there are some very tiny scab like formations where it actually appeared to be opened up before. I hope this is a good thing. The cream I have is Hydrocortisone Cream USP, 0.5% with aloe. Is this a good one? Also are the moisturizers you mentioned absolutely mandatory? I'd rather not talk to my parents about getting me even more stuff, but if you think it's needed I will.
You can get stronger ones. You still need to follow the instructions carefully and there is still a possibility of thinning skin with long term use.
What is your medication called? There are different types.
The cream I got is a 0.5%. Is this a normal hydrocortisone cream or a smaller dosage. Anyways as long as I follow the instructions I will not have a thinning of the skin issue, correct? Also I have noticed that my dry areas are quite shiny which I am actually happy to know as it gives me confidence that this cream will work
Glad that you went to see your doc. Thanks for letting me know how you got on.
I have heard of psoriasis, but not "inverse psoriasis. Well, you have taught me something new today. And having the read the web site, it is something that I may have had that I though was a fungal infection. My shiny red skin was under my breasts and I treated it with a cream that was antibacterial and antifungal that the doctor prescribed for my fungal problem. The doctor never did examine my shiny area and I just presumed it was a fungal problem.
Having searched the web with regard to what the doctor said to you, I have found this link that you may find useful:
https://www.psoriasis.org/about-psoriasis/types/inverse
Because you have been prescribed with a hydrocortisone, do read the instructions and follow the directions how to use the cream. Hydrocortisone creams can thin the skin, so follow the instructions.
The reason that the penis skin is flaky and dry is because the top layer of skin is peeling away with the new skin underneath. So yes, it is a sign of healing.
This is all the more reason for you NOT to use any ordinary soap, bath or shower gel. You can buy from the pharmacy without a prescription an emollient that you can use to wash yourself with and it will also help to moisturise the skin. Because the skin is dry and flaking, you do need a specific moisturiser like in the emollient or ask the pharmacist if they have Emollin which is a spray that can be used on the genitals.
Because you seem to have sensitive skin, only use cotton underpants. Sometimes allergies can happen from biological detergents and some fabric softeners. So if things do not improve or flare up again, do bear that in mind. Avoid using latex too, latex free products are now available.
I do hope the cream the doctor prescribed works for you. I would have been happier for you if the doctor had done a skin swab though to make sure that the condition is what he says.
If you do find your condition worsens when using the cream, stop using it straight away and make a sooner appointment to see the doctor.
I am glad to know that the doctor has told you to get back to him in 2 weeks time.
Once your skin is healed, to stop the profuse sweating that is making your skin in the groins so bad, you can buy (over the internet or may be at a large pharmacy), an antiperspirant called Odaban. But I would not use this on the genital area. For the genital area, I would use the Emollin oil spray or an antiseptic cream like Sudafed.
See how you get on and make a list of questions to ask your doctor when you see him next - like how to avoid getting the condition again.
Best of luck.
Please let me know how you get on. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Alright so I got back from the doctor's. The experience was actually far less awkward than I thought and the doctor made me feel very comfortable. Upon examination he wasn't able to pinpoint just what my condition was, and said he did not believe it looked like a yeast infection. He suggested that it may, however, be inverse psoriasis (I think that's what he said, but please correct me if I'm wrong) ever heard of it? He prescribed me an over the counter hydrocortisone cream and said to check in with him in two weeks or so. Also, lately my penis has been far less itchy and sleeping has been no problem, but the skin is now appearing sort of flaky and is quite dry. Is this a sign of healing or a bad thing?
Thanks
Yes. What you have is caused by a fungal overgrowth. Fungus loves warm and damp places to thrive.
You can get yeast infections anywhere on the body and also in the mouth. In the groins, the genitals, the inner thighs, under breasts, in between your toes, scalp. There are specific medications for the different parts of the body where the fungus infection is. These are called antifungals. Could be a cream, spray, talc; gel or drops for mouth thrush; capsules to take by mouth.
Hygiene is very important as is wearing clean cotton underpants.
Do you need to wear the compression shorts? I know nothing about compression shorts.
With the correct treatment, you will soon feel much better.
Fungus loves sweet; so if you have a diet that is full of foods or drinks that contain a lot of sugar, this will encourage yeast overgrowth. Being on antibiotics too can bring on yeast infections. Eating or drinking more live yogurt will help. You can also apply natural yogurt to your washed and dry area to reduce the inflammation and discomfort.
Let me know how you get on.
By the way I do not have any itch or redness in the groin, just the penis
Thank you for all of your help. I grew myself a pair and talked to my dad about the problem and got him to get me an appointment. Going to a doc tomorrow. Is it possible to get jock itch on your penis? I am working out everyday 2 hours in the gym and 1-2 hours in the field. For the entire training time I am wearing compression shorts under the ones I am working out in. This makes for it to be very tight and moist "down there" for lots of the day. Could this be jock itch?
Well, what did you put the lotion on for? Don't bother answering that.
You clearly had some sort of an issue to resort to putting on lotion.
Never put on any face or hand or other body lotions on to your genitals.
If you have a problem with itching, soreness and/or redness, you should see your doctor.
Ok it's just I don't believe I was having problems before the lotion. The itching started the night after I used it, but it could just be a coincidence
So, did you have any itching before you put on this lotion? Why did you apply a lotion that is not for use on genitals?
You clearly had some problem before applying the lotion and the lotion has made it worse.
NEVER put on creams or lotions that are not meant to be used on specific parts of the body.
Anyone can get thrush which is a fungal infection - You don't have to have sex to get thrush.
Make an appointment and see your doctor.
It seems like the problem was initiated by the scented lotion I used the night before the first irritation. Could that actually be the cause or is it just a coincidence that I did that the night before it first started
Sounds like it may be a yeast infection or a bacterial one called balanitis.
Do NOT scratch, and do NOT apply any lotions that are not meant for your genitals. As you have found out, it made it much worse.
As a home remedy, after you wash your genitals with water ONLY, and dried gently, you can apply natural set yogurt - it will feel cold. You can do this for as long as you need to without any side effects.
What you do need to do, is to book an urgent appointment to see your doctor so that you can be examined and a swab taken if necessary and sent to the laboratory for analysis.
The doctor will determine if it is a fungal infection or a bacterial one. Depending on his findings, he will prescribe you with the appropriate medications.
Antibiotics are used for bacterial infections.
Antifungal cream/spray/capsules by mouth, are used for genital yeast infections.
Do not use ordinary soap, that will dry your skin and make it much worse. Use non perfumed soap, soap that has the same pH level as our skin, or baby washes. The doctor may prescribe a moisturising emollient for you to use instead of soap.
Wash regularly (every day) and wear cotton clean pants every day. Don't wear manmade fabrics (they make you sweat more and encourage yeast growth) and nothing tight.
Don't share towels with other people.
