Urethrogram Appointment

My doctor has booked me in for a urethrogram appointment and from what I've read it can be quite painful.

Do you have any advice? What exactly happens?

Thanks for the reply.

I have some random follow up questions including -

- Am I required to be erect/can an erection occur?
- Is it normal to feel like I need to pee?
- How long will the camera/tube actually need to be in place for?

It's unlikely you will get erect during the procedure and they don't want you to. They manage that. Honestly, the WHOLE procedure will take 20 to 30 minutes tops. You are basically cathed during the procedure so not aware of any urination issues.  As to how long, If the whole thing takes 20 to 30 minutes, expect time to numb, place materials, etc.  Exactly how long the camera is in is patient dependent. But the WHOLE thing is over in 20 to 30 minutes.

Important to remember that having this done is for a good reason, right? It's very quick.  It takes about 30 minutes tops to complete. You might have a bit of discomfort and feel the sensation of pressure in your urethra from the dye going in past a constricted urethra. There may be a small bit of stinging after. Worth it though
