Has anyone had a cystoscopy?

Im a male and about to have one done today and quite frankly, I’m terrified.

What should I expect and has anyone had any experience in what you feel like afterwards? Any risks involved in this?

Just seems so crazy to have a camera put up there im definitely spooked.

Thanks

I'm female, so my experience will likely be different than yours, plus I had mine 20 years ago, but I wanted to make sure you got an answer before you left to get it done.

Here's a pretty good description of it - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cystoscopy/what-happens/

You are pretty numbed up, because they'll numb your urethra. A lot of it is uncomfortable, but not really painful. You won't feel the camera - which is a very strange idea when you think of it, I know - and probably the most you'll feel is a full bladder.

Ask your doctor all the questions you want to - before, during and after - and make sure you know what to expect after, like what's normal after based on what they did.

It won't be your most pleasant experience, but you'll be okay. :) Let us know how it goes.

Just left the hospital..i tapped out as soon as hr started to put it in. It was excruciating and i told them there was already a bit of soreness/sting at and in the opening of my penis and I definitely think that contributed to the pain.

Somethings definitely wrong but i think they chalked it down to me not being able to handle it and offered for me to see him in an office visit and set it up again where id be knocked out.

Man..it still hurts
Did they numb you up?

I'm sorry it hurt so much, but maybe that tells them something about what's wrong, so it's not necessarily bad or a wasted trip.

Can you use an ice pack on the area and reduce any swelling and pain? I hope you feel better, and I think being knocked out is a good idea.

Take it easy this weekend.
They did and it apparently did nothing..i dont know i feel like they chalked it down to me just not handling well but from what i hear, its not supposed to feel like razor blades and i also feel like that when i urinate right now too..so now im scared to pee….lol

Thanks for the response i hope you have a good weekend too
Im honestly even afraid to have it done while im out just based on the fact that it felt like that, it cant be a good idea to be irritated the heck out it like that whether im asleep or not. And if it hurts this badly afterwards just from that, how would it feel after the full procedure being done? I could only imagine..lol
Hey man, I think it is natural to be afraid of the discomfort. Explain the last experience and they will likely take the relief from discomfort just that more seriously (I'm sure they did but now they know the situation and how you respond).
