Emergency abortive Medications

I am a 25 year old female with chronic migraines.  I am on preventive medication for my migraines but I still get several migraines a week.  Since I was diagnosed in 2008, I have used many different abortive medications for when I get a migraine.  It seems almost as if my body either builds up a tolerance to these medications, or my migraines grow in severity and become to powerful for the medication.  It could also be a combination of both.  I have been on imetrex, frova, axert, (something begining with an 'r') and treximet. Right now I am on frova, and it is failing to work, what am I going to do? I know that there are a few more options out there, but they are all in the same family of medication, the same thing will eventually happen.

I've been on preventative medication for about 4 years now, and I've been bumped from one neurologist to the next until they found one who seemed knowledgeable enough ( turns out he's the CEO of the place and I've been calling him dude).  We're constantly making little adjustments to my medications and what not, but my case is very severe.  I'm on 200mg of toprimate, ( came off the birth control when I started) , 60 mg of propanolol, and 2 mg of tizanidine.  plus a lot of non pharmaceutics like 400mg of feverfew, 200mg of lipoic acic, and a vitamin b complex.  I know this regime cannot prevent all migraines, my main concern is my abortive medications.  They seem to work for a short time then stop all together. is that normal? what the hell is going on in my head?

I've been on all of those also. Frova never worked for me. I take Imitrex and I am on two different preventative medications. Well I just got off of one so we will see how that works out. How long have you been on the preventative medicatoin? Has your doctor ever made any changes to it? It seems like it is not working as well as it could be. Do you take other medications that might be interferring with how effective your preventative med may be working (like BCP and topomax)
