Cause for Miscarriage

I am a G2 (G3 with a chemical pregnancy between losses) P0 with a loss at 17 2/7 weeks due to cervical incompetence and 11 3/7 weeks for unknown reasons.  I went in for an ultrasound at 11 0/7 weeks and found a healthy, active baby but three days later felt tremendous vaginal pressure after being on my feet for 9 hours at work, and precipitously delivered upon arriving home from work.  Baby appears "normal" according to the geneticist and my husband and I are genetically "normal".  Could this be a rare case of early incompetent cervix? I was a week away from a scheduled prophylactic cerclage so what should we plan with a future pregnancy?

I lost my baby at 18 weeks with no one cause,  its been said to be Listeria,  a problem with the placenta a flimsy umbiblical cord.. I would suggest having the cerclage earlier..  however the drs will give you the best answers.  good luck.. and sticky baby dust to you..

My OB and the perinatologist have no answers.  They are just as stumped as we are.  My OB is willing to do the cerclage as early as 10 weeks and I will be on bedrest from that point on, but the perinatologists want to wait til 12 weeks to rule out the increased chance of first trimester miscarriage.  It's going to be awhile before we try again, and we'll need more meetings with the MD's before any decisions are made.  I was just looking for any extra input.  Thanks

I'm sorry for your losses.  I can't imagine why the Dr. couldn't do the cerclage earlier.  Since your first loss was at 17 weeks the Dr. probably felt safe waiting until 12 weeks.  I would see what the Dr says about when the earliest it can be done would be and run with it in any future pregnancies.  I don't know if it's possible for you to rest at work at all, but I would probably also try to get off my feet at any opportunity.

I am so sorry about your losses...Have the dr.s said they could do the cerclage earlier. Or if it would make a difference?

I'm so sorry for what you have had to go through.  I don't have any experience with what you are talking about, so I can't be of much help.  Did you get any answers from your dr?
