No period 8 weeks after miscarriage

I am 27 yr old and had a natural miscarriage 8 weeks ago (new year's eve 12-31-09).  This would have been my first pregnancy and I was roughly 6 weeks along.  I have been told normally, periods take about 4-6weeks to return. It's been 8 weeks now and nothing! I took a HPT yesterday an it was negative so I am assuming I am not pregnant. i have been using OPK's, however, I can never really tell.  It seems a lot of the time, my line "is as dark as" the control line.  Does 8 weeks sound way too long to anyone else?  I would like TTC soon, though with my first pregnancy, I hadn't had a period for 4 months and still got pregnant (this was due to coming off the pill, I never got my period).

Well the blood resulst revealed all was normal.  My HCG is at 0 so I should be able to ovualte/get my period.  They also tested my thyroid which was normal and progesterone was normal as well.  Here's hoping this is a good month.  Good luck to everyone!

I have never tried the digital OPK's but I think i will pick them up.  It would be way easier to read! My husband and I are also going to have sex every other day this month ttc.  Hopefully I have good news to report soon!  I did call my dr. and they did a blood test on Friday so I will find out what that has to say today. Thank you both for your helpful comments!

Hi, my doctor said around 8-9 weeks, you may want to call and ask your doc, or give it a week and take another test and if its still negative you should go see your doc. After a miscarriage, everything gets kind of messed up sometimes, so you could have or still ovulate at any time, if you had sex you may be pregnant and too soon to trip an hpt.

I heard it could take longer than 8 weeks to get a cycle. I would give it a little more time then take another preg test. Have u ever tried the digital OPk it is much better than those strips, it's costly but worth the money especially when u see a smiley face. Good luck!
