I'll keep you in my thoughts...I don't know how I'm going to handle when my dd comes along in March...Good luck with the puppy!
Oh Min Yorkies are so adorable!! I have a friend who has a puggle, but I don't know much about them. My DH wants a Chessie Bay Retriever to take hunting with him, but we have to wait until we get a bigger house. Can't wait to see the poll !!
We had two german shorthair pointers who we lost both at the begining of the year. My BIL has 2 weimeraners and I love them but they are just way to big and energetic (and Mikayla is TERRIFIED of them. My step mother has 2 beagles and a min yorkie who are all great with her 4 grandkids and I grew up with a cocker spaniel/beagle mix. I guess I am a dog person and I'm deathly allergic to cats so they are out of the question. I read the puggles are good family dogs (beagle/pug) and they are not too big. I love chocolate labs but they are so friendly I'm worried Mikayla will get trampled! Maybe I should just start her off with a guinea pig, or she loves the reptiles! Keep an eye out for a dog breed poll!
If you are serious about the dog, my biggest recommendation is for you to do breed research. Some dogs just aren't good with little kids or babies (like my Mini Pin for example). In the broad span of things bigger dogs are usually calmer and able to rough and tumble with little ones. Little dogs are super hyper - I have a perpetual "2 year old" in my home. My SIL has Burmese Mountain dogs and they are great. My other friend has a weimerhiemer (sp?) whom I love, but he's all muscule and can be a bit bullish. Labs are supposed to be great with kids. My sis has a yellow and a co-worker has a chocolate. Also when you do the breed research you'll find the typical health problems associated with certain breeds. I rushed into my decision and wish I had done more searching. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my little guy but we will have challenges ahead of us when we do get our BFP.
Are you a dog person? I mean have you had one before? We had a dog growing up, but I was in for a HUGE surprise when I got my Charlie. I had no idea how much work he was going to be. I could probably ramble on about this subject forever. Let me know if you have any questions. It could be fun if you put up a post and take a vote on everyone's opinion of breed. We all need a little levity around here :)
Thank you ladies.
Princess, hope you are feeling well
Bam, I'm serious about a puppy...I just didn't want a newborn and a new dog at the same time, so now we can go for the puppy. We were told not to ttc until at least Jan. and I'm really not sure about how I feel about it. A puppy would be nice for my daughter also, and since she's making so many friends at school now I'm not so worried about her being lonely. I was thinking a puggle or a jack russell.
Tiger, I hope your cramping and bleeding has stopped. I am pulling for you!
I'm sorry you have to go through this. I can't imagine how tough it is to actually get to your DD after a m/c. I'm not looking forward to when mine comes up in Jan 19th and my friend is due on the same day. I can't seem to get excited for her and i know that is selfish. I think it's hard when you see or know people that are due around your supposed to be DD. It really kicks you in the guts. I hope you find the strength to get through this. Know i'm here if you want to chat.
I'm sorry you're have such a rough week. Although when you say maybe you should get a puppy . . . I don't know if you are serious, but even if you are TTC, maybe a puppy would be a nice welcome break to chear you up? We waited forever to TTC and everytime my clock would start to tick louder, I would get a kitty - now I have 4 cats and a mischevious Mini Pin. My little dog always knows when I'm sad, so he performs comic relief for me until I laugh. Just a thought . . .
I hope your weekend goes better. Hang in there, you will be in my prayers.
