What day should I consider the 1st day of my cycle?

I don't know which day I should consider the 1st day of my cylce. I had m/c on 9/14 bleed for 5 days. I ttc right away and didn't wait out the few cycles. So today I took a cheap very chep hpt and there was a tiny tiny faint line but I couldn't tell if that was the dye from the test or a shadow. I can't ask my ob cause he told me to wait. Okay if I'm not pg how do I know when I'm ovulating is it a whole cycle later 2 weeks after the date your m/c starts or 2 weeks after? I have googled and read all kinds of studies and nobody really knows. i can say my body is like clock work and my periods have never been irregular. If anyone has any experiences they can share or some helpful info I would be so happy. I just don't know if I should be testing the 14 th of this month or now or later! I;m really banging my head off the wall. Thank you!!!!!

AF- aunt flo
BFP- big fat positive (on a pregnancy test :)

The only way to tell if you are really ovulating is with an ultrasound.  Your body has several signs that you should be ovulating, but the only way to know for sure is with u/s.

Thanks ladies for the info. I have one question what is a AF and  BFP. If I know what that means then I can better understand what is going on with my body. Okay another stupid question can I have my blood checked to see if I'm ovulating? Thanks girls you are the best!!!!!

My doctor said that even though AF comes, you often don't ovulate the first time.  He also said that even if you do, it usually isn't exactly 14 days after mc.  Even though you are usually normal, don't forget that your body has experienced a serious and unexpected loss, so it will sometimes have trouble rebounding immediately.  He said to really listen to your body.  Did your dr follow your HCG back to zero?  I know my af came exactly 2 weeks after HCG was under 5.  Good luck!!!

Its hard to tell with anyone when they will ovulate. I am in the same boat as you right now. I had a D&C on 09/10. i was so sure i ovulated two weeks from the day but then i noticed the same ovulation symptoms a week after that. i thought i would get AF yesterday or today making that about 28-29 day cycle.
Ive been having pre AF symptoms but no AF yet. i did two tests too early and both came up with faint positives but two after that were negative including one yesterday. So goodness know! some take 6 weeks before they get AF so that would make ovulation 4 weeks after not two. it may take even longer
I hope if you test again it will be a BFP rather than just a faint one.
ive decided that i wont start calculating a cycle until after I have my first AF... just to make it easier and not so frustrating.
