10 weeks and no heartbit

I am 30 years old, and I am in my week 10th. Nevertheless the baby looks as if 6.5. I had two blood tests to detect the hCG levels last week: on Monday it was 37,666 on Thurs it was 42,846; also the baby looks to have grown a bit in the between but there is not heart bit yet. The doctor is worried and I am WORRIED; he said this might lead to an abortion. The first doctor I went to suggested abortion immediately, the other asked me to wait a bit more. I went for the second option since I really want this child. I would like to know if any of you has a common experience and what was the outcome. Thank you sooooo much.

thank you so much for your reply. I am having the next US on Thurs and then I guess it will be clear where the balance weights...yes abortion is not the right term; not when you want the baby...

Unfortunately, it sounds like you've had a missed miscarriage. This is when the baby dies but the pregnancy continues, your hormones rise and the placenta functions. Your body doesn't realize that the baby has passed away. Then, eventually, your body will catch on and miscarriage will begin or in some cases a DNC is needed to remove the baby. I hate the term abortion being used for women who have had miscarriages, I know it's a medical term, but still. Waiting at this point won't cause that much harm.. however, if the baby passed at 6.5 weeks and you are already 10 weeks, you've been carrying the baby for quite some time after the fetal demise and you may want to get seen as soon as possible to prevent infection. Good luck, I hope everything works out well.
