Amazing Friend

I had a diaphragm spasm awhile back and was laying on the ground and the only thing that was making it better was that I was watching Simon and Garfunkel on TV. I could not move mind you. The next thing I know my Husband has the Who on full blast and is rocking out oblivious to me. A friend of mine thought this was funny. As did I after the fact.

Paul Simon was coming to town. She secretly got tickets which sold out in less than an hour. Tonight was the concert. We get there and my husband and I are staring at her. Our tickets are front row center! I am 8 feet from Paul Simon all night. In the middle of the set he shakes our hand. His band is amazing. We all decided it was the best evening out we had ever spent.

I have been having diaphragm spasms all day but I just do not care, I saw Paul Simon in person.

Life is good!

Alex

American Tune is amazing it was written 36 year ago and could be written for working class families like ours today. I am glad he did not do it. I would have cried.

What a wonderful memory to create for you - I am a huge Paul Simon fan and listen to him regularly and just had him up on youtube yeasterday.

This might be my favorite S&G song - especially poignant since they have both turned 70 this year.

American Tune is also a favorite -

Alex, what a wonderfully suprising night you had!  A great friend to have and I am sure younhave a wonderful relationship with her.  You are both so lucky to have each other.

Wouldnt the world be a better place if we each all " loved each other like a rock?!"

I woke up today and called my friend. I said I had this weird dream I shook Paul Simon's hand last night. She said that was not a dream. I am sure I will never have such a night as that. I have been singing American Tune all day.

My diaphragm spasm has not let up. Yes it MS. I found out this week I have damage to my spinal cord now. It is affecting my arms and breathing. It may be responsible for weight loss. Another Doctor I met with today acknowledged my MS will probably go badly for me down the road.

Since no one knows when that is I am living my life.

I did go riding. It was a glorious day and the horse was wonderful. I took a friend to lunch, a friend who does not drive and does not get out. I decided to repay the kindness of my other friend who took me to the Concert. Someone asked me once if I only give to a person in the amount I expect back from that person. I explained I did not work that way. One friend will give me a gift or do something and I may do something for that person or someone else. Quid pro quo has nothing to do with it.

Dagun I do have lots of those friends. I have a friend with a beach house who lets us come. I have the lady at the barn who lets me ride the horses. I have so many friends. Lots of them on the forum.

Wow, lucky you, what a wonderful evening for you :). Do you have more of those kind of friends to spread around?? :) (hope you get my English) This can sure help you forget all about "boring" pain for awhile. I am so happy for you and also for your good visit to the pain clinic. Keep smiling, this you won't forget in the nearest future.

My best to you,
Dagun

Sounds wonderful for you!!

The diaphragm spams; I am so glad I am on this site.  All of my muscles spasm at any given time, but when this one did for the first time a few months ago, I thought I was having a heart attack!  I have this problem, as I said, with all of my muscles going into spasm and that is why I had to stop walking my 2-3 miles/day a couple years ago.

Is this part of your MS?  Thanks.
